Im so happy right now because after what seems like an eternity I'm finally writing a shoe-making blog. Previously I was making my first pair of sneakers, but I made a huge mistake which could not be rectified. I was a bit down on confidence, when my cousin sent me this picture and asked if I could make something similar, and if possible better than this, for a friend of hers.
I decided to take a break from the sneakers and go back to slippers-making to build my confidence. I even gave her a very good discount, seeing as it's my first time actually selling one of these.
Here are the materials I made use of
●Maco
●Leather
●Gum
●Rubber (size 3 and size 4)
●Gold Ring (square shaped)
●Rivet
And here are the tools and equipments I used
●Filing machine
●Punch
●Hammer
●Cutting knife
●Sewing machine
●Mallet
●Last
So first, I drew all the shapes(patterns) of the parts of the slippers on packaging paper and cut them out
Then I used the sole shaped pattern to create a smaller version of it by subtracting 1cm from all the sides.
Then I used the sole shaped pattern to cut out 2 pairs from my Rubber 3. One pair for my sole and the other pair for my insole. I also used the smaller version to cut out a pair from my maco
The maco and Rubber look similar in this picture but in reality they are both very different. The maco is as soft as foam while the rubber is hard and thick.
So, I applied a little gum and put my maco together, then used the filing machine to smoothen (file) the edges. While doing this I also smoothened (filed) the both faces of the rubber I wanted to use for the insole, and one face of the rubber I wanted to use for the sole. I require both hands to use the filing machine but here's a picture of me filing one face of the sole.
After doing this I used the heel part of the sole to trace and cut out two heels from my rubber 4.
Then I marked and filed (smoothened) only the part of the sole where the heel would stay. I also filed the part of the heel that didn't have friction.
After doing that, I applied gum, waited a bit for it to dry, and attached the heel to the sole. I also separated the maco and attached them to their corresponding rubber using gum.
I used my mallet to beat it round. Then I applied gum to the brown leather and the entire top part of the insole. Once it was dry i placed the insole on the leather, used a pen to carve out the shape before cutting it out.
Now I used the pattern for the upper I had created earlier to sketch on their corresponding leather
Then I cut them out and lined them with another leather
I didn't like the colour of the lighter shade of brown so I dyed it to make it finer.
I attached the accessories and took it to a guy who helps me sew my work for money.
Then I used a punch make the hole for the thong of the slippers to pass through. I also used it to make small holes before using my cutting knife to cut slits for the straps to pass through.
I then used a last to set the slippers.
After that I filed the underside of the straps
Then I applied gum on the underside of the Insole and the upper part of the sole. Once it was dry I put them together, used a mallet to beat it, then I used the filing machine to shape the edges.
And that's it.
I'm very happy with this and my cousin was also very pleased. She even promised to give me an extra reward. I will resume with my sneaker making on Monday by God's grace and once I'm done I'll be posting it here.

Estoy tan feliz ahora mismo porque después de lo que parece una eternidad por fin estoy escribiendo un blog de fabricación de zapatos. Anteriormente estuve haciendo mi primer par de zapatillas, pero cometí un error garrafal que no se pudo subsanar. Estaba un poco bajo de confianza, cuando mi prima me envió esta foto y me preguntó si podía hacer algo similar, y si es posible mejor que esto, para una amiga suya.
Decidí tomarme un descanso de las zapatillas y volver a la fabricación de zapatillas para ganar confianza. Incluso le hice un buen descuento, ya que es la primera vez que vendo una de estas.
Estos son los materiales que utilicé

Así que primero, dibujé todas las formas(patrones) de las partes de las zapatillas en papel de embalaje y las recorté
Luego utilicé el patrón con forma de suela para crear una versión más pequeña restando 1cm a todos los lados.
Luego utilicé el patrón en forma de suela para cortar 2 pares de mi Goma 3. Un par para mi suela y el otro par para mi plantilla. También utilicé la versión más pequeña para cortar un par de mi maco
El maco y la goma se parecen en esta foto pero en realidad ambos son muy diferentes. El maco es blando como la espuma mientras que la goma es dura y gruesa.
Así que, apliqué un poco de goma y junté mi maco, luego usé la limadora para alisar (limar) los bordes. Mientras hacía esto también alisé (limé) las dos caras de la goma que quería usar para la plantilla, y una cara de la goma que quería usar para la suela. Necesito las dos manos para usar la limadora, pero aquí hay una foto mía limando una cara de la suela.
Después de hacer esto utilicé la parte del tacón de la suela para trazar y cortar dos tacos de mi goma 4.
Luego marqué y limé (alisé) sólo la parte de la suela donde quedaría el tacón. También limé la parte del tacón que no tenía roce.
Después de hacer eso, apliqué goma, esperé un poco a que se secara y pegué el tacón a la suela. También separé los macos y los uní a su correspondiente goma usando goma.
Utilicé mi mazo para golpear en redondo. Luego apliqué goma a la piel marrón y a toda la parte superior de la plantilla. Una vez seca, coloqué la plantilla sobre el cuero y utilicé un bolígrafo para tallar la forma antes de recortarla.
Ahora utilicé el patrón de la parte superior que había creado antes para dibujar en su cuero correspondiente
Luego los recorté y los forré con otro cuero
No me gustaba el color del tono más claro de marrón así que lo he teñido para hacerlo más fino.
Le puse los accesorios y se lo llevé a un chico que me ayuda a coser mis trabajos por dinero.
Luego utilicé un punzón para hacer el agujero para que pase la correa de las zapatillas. También lo utilicé para hacer pequeños agujeros antes de utilizar mi cuchillo de corte para cortar hendiduras para que pasen las correas.
Luego utilicé una horma para fijar las zapatillas.
Después limé la parte inferior de las correas
Luego apliqué goma en la parte inferior de la plantilla y en la parte superior de la suela. Una vez seco los uní, utilicé un mazo para golpear y luego utilicé la limadora para dar forma a los bordes.
Y ya está.
Estoy muy contento con esto y mi primo también estaba muy contento. Incluso prometió darme una recompensa extra. El lunes retomaré con la confección de las zapatillas por la gracia de Dios y una vez que termine lo estaré publicando aquí.
