Today I was doing my usual going through hive, and one way or the other this contest found its way to me. By the way, thanks 
From the onset I didn't use to read books. I'd always prefered watching a movie or listening while it's being narrated to me. It was until I got to primary 4 that I was given my first book to read. The name of the book was tortoise and the brown monkey. It was a very short book, so it was very easy for me to finish it. But after reading it, my interest in reading began to develop. I started reading other short stories. And before I knew it my interest for reading began to grow.
One day while In class (primary 6) one of my classmates was reading a novel. I walked up to her to ask for the name. And that was when I first saw the secret seven. I Waited a few days for her to finish, and I borrowed it from her. That was my first ever novel.
At first I wasn't used to the style of writing, most of the books I'd read in the past were only narrated, in this one there was dialogue. Also I'd never read any book that was as long as it was. But as soon as I started I just kept going, and going, and going till I was done. And when I finished I wanted more. Though I wasn't able to read all 15, I read quite a few of them.
What is the secret seven about?
The secret seven is about seven children who formed a society to solve mysteries. Peter, Janet, Pam, Barbara, Jack, Colin, George, and scamper. Scamper was their dog, therefore he isn't counted, but he's always there so I have always counted him as the eight member.
How did the secret seven impact my childhood?
Reading their crime solving ordeals always made me smile, and it started to rub off on me too as I became curious of anything that happened and would be determined to solve it. I was the detective of the house. I think I still kept some of this trait because I still tend to want to know whatever happens (I'm a Stalker👀,lol).
One thing I learnt from the book was to never underestimate anyone. A very common theme in the book was people underestimating them because they were little kids. And although I didn't know this at the time, reading the secret seven made me a bit more confident in my abilities.
Overall I'd say that the secret seven books were a very important part of my childhood. They made me more confident, made me more inquisitive, and though I no longer read as often as I ought to, they peaked my interest in reading far higher than it was.
