My poem, entitled Purnama Tenggelam or The Full Moon Sinks is one of the selected poems in the poetry reading competition for senior high schools in the province of Central Java which will take place on July 24, 2021.

Apart from my poetry, there are several poems from other poets who are also the poetry of choice. However, for the Acehnese poet, only my poetry was chosen. Here is the poem:

The Full Moon Sinks

You paint the last chapter on the sand
about outdated romanticism:
word for word love passes with the wind
overwritten by the hanging full moon
an inch above the golden tapestry

The heart ripple and sigh
enough to accompany every word
who were buried in the canoe without pedaling
we endlessly split the ocean
with a piece of bloody heart as a light

At this point, I no longer need a lantern
anchor 'has fallen on the top of the ocean
racing heart and restless sigh
disappeared already in the belly of the waves

The sparkle of the word has disappeared
and the full moon sinks in our eyeballs
