I agree with your points on necessity and interest - they seem like the magic ingredients. I have come across a few people who believe they know it all already and I believe without a mind open to learning, we limit ourselves. Others are thirsty for knowledge even when they are already well learned. I, therefore, believe there is also a requirement for being proactive and having the thirst for knowledge which is more than just the necessity because we have to pass a qualifiation.
