I live in the far off desert in AZ. I have been stalked by a diamondback rattlesnake. I heard / saw it with plenty of distance luckily, and turned around in the opposite direction. It followed for way more distance than I hoped it would. Eventually it stopped coming in my direction and turned towards this dry creek bed.
I just don't want people thinking that this would actively happen when they encounter them. You have a better chance at getting struck by lightning than a snake chasing you. They're mostly indifferent to us. We aren't predators and we aren't food. We're basically just moving scenery
Because snakes dont stalk people. I was just more playing devils advocate from my unique experience. Im not even really saying it was stalking me and trying to kill me. But it really did go my direction. I had plenty of room to make sure it didnt get close but if for some reason I had less path, it could have led to a close encounter that would have seemed like it came for me.
