Briefly and in no particular order:

  • some people actually dumped BTC 20-30 minutes prior to the Fork, ...though might be due to (next note)

  • several coins jumped very quickly after BTC block 494107/the fork--- OMG, and NEO both bumped up very quickly, no I did not keep track of exactly which coins--you can find that easily enough, but the jump literally took a few minutes.
*as expected--several exchanges slowed or went into 'maintenance'; Bittrex maintenance of BTC wallet was actually pretty fast --lasting 5-10 minutes.

I sold 25% of my BTC after the Fork, right about where BTC is right now actually. I suspect BTC will slowly drop to 5k, dip down a bit. I could be wrong---hence only selling part of earnings. For those who disagree--- taking some earnings off the table feels good. It allows me to sleep better at night.

** Mistake made--in hindsight, I should have temporarily sold my OMG to BTC and then bought back after the fork just like thousands of others. Oops! Hey...I'm not perfect. I'm glad to share my mistakes.

Good luck. Should be interesting where BTG is $-wise, in a month or so. Will it behave just like BTC cash?
