En esta oportunidad con una nueva aventura, la segunda desde que regrese a casa, la propuesta inicial fue la cumbre de Choroni, esta ruta representa una de las más exigente de la región, al principio no podía creer que fuesen tan inclementes con alguien que tenía 5 meses sin rodar en montañas y poco entrenamiento...pero SI, así son mis compañeros, no dan tregua.
This time with a new adventure, the second since I returned home, the initial proposal was the summit of Choroni, this route represents one of the most demanding in the region, at first I could not believe that they were so inclement with someone who had 5 months without riding in the mountains and little training ... but YES, so are my companions, they do not give truce.
Como ya es costumbre, los domingos es el dia que mas temprano dejamos la cama para salir a rodar en nuestras bicicletas, pautamos las 7 a.m para el encuentro pero es común que el tiempo se prolongue en la espera de los impuntuales, en esta oportunidad no fue la excepción y comenzamos a subir pasada las 7 y 30 a.m. Al principio, me costó agarrar el ritmo, pero el clima cálido en la montaña hizo que me olvidara lo complejo de la carretera.
As usual, Sundays is the earliest day we leave the bed to go out to ride our bikes, we set 7 a.m. for the meeting but it is common that the time is prolonged in waiting for the unpunctual, this time was no exception and began to climb past 7:30 a.m. At first, I struggled to get into the rhythm, but the warm weather in the mountains made me forget the complexity of the road.
Todo transcurrió satisfactoriamente, hicimos la parada acostumbrada en Curucuruma para tomar café y compartir las meriendas, pasado un rato continuamos por la empinada carretera (en el video se aprecia parte del recorrido), hemos pasado muchas veces por esta vía, pero en esta oportunidad conseguimos a un grupo de monos Araguatos a orilla del camino, nos acercamos con mucha cautela para grabarlos (ellos no se percataron de nuestras presencia), estuvieron unos cuantos minutos para luego continuar descendiendo a la profundidad de la montaña saltando de rama en rama.
All went well, we made the usual stop in Curucuruma to drink coffee and share snacks, after a while we continued down the steep road (in the video you can see part of the route), we have passed many times this way, but this time we got a group of Araguatos monkeys on the roadside, we approached very cautiously to record them (they did not notice our presence), were a few minutes and then continue descending into the depths of the mountain jumping from branch to branch.
Los monos Araguatos o monos aulladores representan a una especie de primates en Venezuela, viven en manadas de 10 a 15 liderizadas por padrotes que brindan protección a la familia, el rugido estremece la montaña, son de color rojizo de varios tamaños según el sexo y la edad. Hasta los momentos no hemos conocido de ataques a humanos en este parque, esta ha sido la única oportunidad en la cual hemos estado tan cerca de ellos, igualmente nos mantuvimos en silencio observando. The Araguato monkeys or howler monkeys represent a species of primates in Venezuela, they live in herds of 10 to 15, led by masters who provide protection to the family, the roar shakes the mountain, they are of reddish color of various sizes depending on sex and age. So far we have not known of any attacks on humans in this park, this has been the only opportunity in which we have been so close to them, we also remained silent observing (see video).
Continuamos nuestro Camino hasta llegar a la primera regresiva, este lugar significa que las subidas más pronunciadas quedaron atrás, pero de aquí en adelante aun falta para llegar a la cumbre, por votación mayoritaria se decidió no continuar porque algunos compañeros tenían compromisos familiares y decidimos regresar, por supuesto que aprovechamos de hacer las fotos del grupo y el respectivo baile. El descenso es nuestro regalo, la adrenalina invade nuestro organismo ante la inclinación y la cantidad de curvas sorteando los vehículos, motos, autobuses y camiones que circulan por esta vía.
We continue our way until we reach the first downhill, this place means that the steepest climbs were left behind, but from here on we still have to reach the summit, by majority vote it was decided not to continue because some colleagues had family commitments and we decided to return, of course we took the opportunity to take pictures of the group and the respective dance. The descent is our gift, the adrenaline invades our body before the inclination and the amount of curves dodging vehicles, motorcycles, buses and trucks that circulate on this road.
Fueron 44 kilómetros llenos de emoción, una dosis adecuada para comenzar la semana activos y con la mejor actitud...hasta la próxima aventura.
