When a house or flat is painted white and there are no decorations on the walls, it is like a large canvas to paint. Of course, this takes time if you do it yourself or a lot of money if you want to buy all the decorations at once. I chose the first option.

When I first entered the flat where I am now, I noticed that, although there were some decorations on the table or on the floor, the walls were empty, completely white, with no pictures, no hanging decorations, nothing... nothing at all. I suppose it's better for people who rent houses or flats, as they don't risk anything going missing or getting broken.

At that time, I didn't have or wasn't going to spend money on those details, because there were more important and substantial things to take care of, and decoration was the least of my concerns.

Soon after, we were able to get these paintings. One is beautiful; I think it's a reproduction of a famous painting by Francisco Rivera. I like it a lot because it evokes a classic painting and the female figure is beautiful. In the case of the roses, it's simply a framed print, and to start with, neither of them were bad.

In addition, from the place where I had lived before, I had brought this painting that I had painted myself, which has a long history. I painted it with the idea of giving it as a gift to a friend with whom I had been in contact for many years via the internet, and I thought that something I had made myself was the best gift I could give her when we met. She lived on the other side of Spain, so I thought it would not be easy for us to meet.

Things did not turn out as I had expected. I was very disappointed with that person, who, when I arrived here, abandoned me to my fate after a few days, and I never heard from her again. I never met her, and I think it was better that way. The painting stayed with me, and I still have it.

With time, after a few months and several not-so-good things had happened, I decided to start painting again. Today I have my own style, but at that time I still followed the guidelines I had learned in class. I had been taught to copy, and I could and can make replicas of practically any painting. I knew that I had a style inside me, I knew that I liked surrealism, but I didn't know how to express it. That came with time.

After that period, as I said, I took up painting again and, to motivate myself, the next thing I painted had to be a horse, so I chose a white one in profile. I like everything about horses: the face, the musculature, the mane, everything. And little by little, an idea emerged in my head: to make several paintings, many of them, to decorate my home, to put my energy into them and later on... life would tell.

The next one had to be a sea, a sea with small waves and lots of foam, which I think is what I like most about painting the sea. The sky was somewhat pink, like a sunset.

For the next one, I was inspired by the trees called the grandparents of Malaga, which belong to the ficus family and are huge and ancient. I took several photographs of the Picasso Gardens and based this painting on one of them. Of course, I always painted with oil on canvas and wood.

I like autumn because it has wonderful colours in its trees and landscapes, so I based this painting on that season of the year.

And finally, the last painting arrived, although I have two others unfinished, from the old days, from the time when I was copying, perhaps from an image I saw somewhere. This horse is my favourite; it has energy, strength, elegance and movement throughout its body, and I identify with it. I think I painted horses because I needed to at that time. I painted all of them in 2019.

That period ended there, and with all these paintings I decorated various spaces in my home, dining room, living room, hallway, bedroom... and they bring life to the house with their colours.

But one day I joined Hive and the art community that I adore, it was my new inspiration and it was by making videos with art designs that I discovered a style, surrealism, where human figures, animals and plants or even everyday things are mixed together.

That's how I started painting again, first on wood, because at the request of the moderator I did a self-portrait and discovered that a person can identify with many things, and this set of paintings on wood were some of the ones I painted, the ones I like the most.

A few months ago, I decided to go back to painting on canvas. It takes longer, and the paintings are larger than those on wood, but it's worth it. These two are the first in a collection I want to have. So the collection... will continue.

Thank you all for joining me today. This is a very important post for me. Each painting is part of who I am. Thank you, and see you soon.
