Hello to you all again. This is my second post here. Hope you will like to. Today I'm going to share with you all how a make a simple friendship band just using some hand embroidery threads. It's very simple but the output is very nice. And also you can use any color that you like for this.
This is a picture of the friendship band.
So, let's get started. For this band all you need is three pieces of embroidery threads. From that three pieces two should be longer. But the shorter one of course should be longer than your wrist size, leaving enough length to tie it easily around your wrist. And about this longer pieces length, it also depends on your wrist size. I recommend you to use a length of more than two times of your shorter thread pieces length.
The next important thing is color. If you want the whole band in one color you can choose a one color. But if you want it in two different colors, your two longer thread pieces should be in two different colors. And for the shorter one you can choose one color from your longer pieces.
That's it about selecting the materials and this is what I chose for the band. Being a average size girl I used the shorter piece with a length of 25cm.
And then what you need to do is tie all the three pieces together at the edge like this.
And then you need you attach the tied edge to some surface, I prefer a pillow so then you can attach it with a pin easily like this.
This is done to keep the edge without moving so that you can braid your band easily. And also you need to position these threads in a way that the shorter one is in the middle. And of course if you can tie the bottom edge of your shorter thread to the pillow it's better. That means your shorter thread won't be moving at all.
Okay, now everything is fixed. Let's move on to the braid.
First take one of your longer thread and keep that on top of your shorter thread just like in the step 1 below.
Then take the other piece and place it on top of the first piece in the left side just like in the step 2.
Then bring it to the right side moving it under the shorter thread as well as the first longer thread like a tie. You can see how it looks like after doing that in the step 3.
Then your tie is done. What you have to do next is pull the two free ends of the two piece to tighten the tie just like in the step 4.
And that's it. What you have to do is repeat the same steps over and over and your braid is done. But one important thing that you have to keep in mind is that you should always start with the same color thread each time. Otherwise your colors will mess up.
And that's it. Once you have finished the braid you can secure you edge with a typical tie.
And this is the final look.
And there is an interesting thing about this band. The two sides of this band is different. One color is in the middle part in one side and in the outer part in the other side. Actually you can use both side which you will end up having two different bands in one attempts. Interesting, right?
So, that's it. I have explained how I did that. I hope you will try it for yourself.
And that's all for today. Good bye. See you in the next post.
