Hello Steemians, I am finally posting my introduction post and have been stuck with the problem of just how to describe myself.
I come from North Staffordshire in England, I'm a History Graduate, and Teacher when my health allows.
A little of my history then. I left school at 16 without qualifications and went into the Army as it was the only job I could get. I began my career in The Royal Green Jackets (43rd, 52nd, 60th & 95th) and eventually found myself serving in the Royal Army Medical Corps where I rose to the rank of Sergeant (E-6 in NATO parlance).

Around the time I became a Medic, I was diagnosed as Dyslexic, I don’t recall ever having any news that has caused me to lose my temper to such an extent, but it drove me to prove myself both militarily and educationally. I left the service in 1993. After leaving the service I married a wonderful lady, who I met years earlier at a Ju-Jitsu dojo, just one of our many shared interests.
The years go by and she’s as wonderful as ever.
My lovely lady wife shares my interest in history which is a godsend, if your thing is museums, a partner who shares that interest is a must for marital harmony. Sadly my health deteriorated until I was finally unable to work and my family (myself included) were convinced that I was dying. Being my usual accepting self, and not being able to sit still and die quietly, I decided that I wanted to have a go at higher education and at least do something interesting in my head while the rest of me was in poor order. Much to everyone’s surprise, I didn’t die (absolute bonus!) and to the credit of the Open University (understanding professors and exams split over several days and in my own home), I graduated with a decent Degree in History. This left me in the strange situation of being a graduate with no high school qualifications, which I rectified the following year. I followed that with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, but sadly my health will not hold up to the job and so I work on a casual basis, mostly in the Special Education field.
On to my interests then, places that I love are:
Stonehenge
Dovedale - I really miss walking here.
Great Cathedrals
Airshows and Aviation Museums
This list could go on and on and so I will leave it there and only add one more aspect of my life to this introduction, our cat, Lilly:
Sweet and innocent and Caught in the act!
And there you have a short intro to your good friend Audax.
