A few years ago, right after we bought this car my wife tested the fender durability against pole while backing up. With the following results......
after a few years I finally got ambitious and decided to fix the car, I took it by a local auto body shop. However, they were closed, but I caught an employee on his way out and was shooting the breeze with him and asked him about how much it was to replace a fender, and he said it depends on the fender, some fenders you can pick up for $40 and others are $400. With that piece of information I went on my way.
So that night I was wondering how much a Hyundai Sonata fender would be, so I jumped on the computer and did some digging around. I found a fender on eBay for $60 including shipping.
I decide to give replacing the fender myself a shot. Luckily I had already replaced a door handle on the car so I had a can of factory matching paint and sealer, so with the $60 primer fender I had all I needed.
Here is a photo of the fender before paint
Getting the old fender off really was not to hard, just take off all the bolts and clips and pay attention to know how to put it all back together.
The new fender after paint and sealer applied
And finally the new fender installed. If you have question about this project let me know in the comments and I can give any pointers and tips if you are looking to replace a fender of your own.
