After a long and tiresome trekking I got to Betheve, a hilly forest community located in the border of the Cameroon and upper Cross River, Nigeria. The people here are peasant farmers and hunters. They do their games on the bushy mountains. Living in huts, and exhibit calm and quiet lifestyle. Everywhere on the hills is usually quiet and serene. No school, health facilities and some social amenities found here. Though obviously poor the indigenes seem not to bother as they have no options to choose from. The magnitude of their neglect is only tolerated because they have no representative in government. They are subsistence farmers and the the farm crops are banana and casava. They have timbers that is controlled by the agents of the government of both countries. And no revenue is accrued to the well being of the community dwellers. Reaching here was a heart rendering as seeing the people they were like sheep without a shepherd. There's no good worship Centre here. First we were staying out on the sun and at night we stay on moon light. In another location, we had an old and dilapidated structure that has leaking roof and walls washed up by rain water. Here people demonstrated that zest for God and gladly received me and my team. Pray that God will raise remnants who will stand firm for His honour as well as those who will represent this forgotten hamlet. They were to the gospel.
My intentions for them includes
Continued and regular follows through and Disciples-making process.
To introduce skill-acquisitions training and
To support some children of school age to go to school.
Pray for funds to realize these projects and for the souls of those who made commitment to the Lord.
