With my year finally calming down and events being set or done with for now, I can finally begin creating and posting regularly again. This year I tried to have a goal with the games I played because I need a purpose in games. Previous purposes have been for grouped content but recent realizations from frequently played with players have finally hit home and I need to play for myself. A constant pitfall I fall into. I usually do many tasks with a goal of 'cooperation' but always end up holding the majority of the project pieces with no one wanting to commit or activate the project unless it is on their ridiculous terms.
So these are the games I've been playing more consistently!
I've gotten into No Mans Sky because it scratches that itch for exploration and activities worth doing in a sci-fi game that other games just fail at (Despite being in development for 13+ years and having earned $1 billion in funding).
I have no idea if these ships were friendly or hostile but I warped the heck outta there once I captured this photo
Walking across a barren planet when I noticed the twin suns were creating this cool effect
Swimming around in the oceans is pretty cool. Wish I could capture some of the fish as companions but the fishing is good enough
I was scanning minerals when this rock decided it valued its privacy and promptly grew legs and started running. I obviously chased it to capture the oddity of the moment
10 Years of expansions with plenty to do is always good. I am trying to figure out my purpose in this game as there is so much to do but I am interested in the creature fights and the fishing on different planets. I'll see how things turn out though!
Lovely arrow to point me out amidst the chaos of the first skirmish in the match
I have also gotten into competitive games again such as The Finals and Heroes of the Storm. The matchmaking for both is often hell for me because there is always a disparity in skill level with my lackadaisical play style but I do my part and get a thrill out of playing these games were moments often come down to the wire.
My heavy loadout. Explosives often even the skill level between me and more committed players
I often focus on objectives or revives because I think teammates with medium or light builds are more skilled and if I can drag attention away from them by capping objectives or revive the better player than I have a better shot at winning!
Of course this isn't always the case. Though we did make it to the 2nd round before being knocked out!
There is just something nice about having games I can hop in and out of with a quick match... Then again, every time I play thinking 'Oh, this'll be a quick game' I usually end up making it to the final round or the heroes match goes to the 30 minute mark. Maybe I am fulfilling the self prophecy when I say 'This game will be quick".
In regards to my Hive activity and Gaming:
I know there are games on Hive that achieve some of the same goals that these games offer but when Hive had that period of depression I sort of lost interest in participating. Hive felt stagnant with no fresh participants and many of the communities feeling empty and watching many interesting projects that ended up dying or being absorbed by other creations. It didn't help that many of the posts I saw in the communities were similar to posts I could see on Web2.
I've still published but as you can tell from my history, my posting dates have spread out further and further apart.
I also know that I need to get back on the creative saddle because I've been stuck in a rut for far too long these past two years. Too much wallowing and lingering in the suck to actually break free from it.
Until now!
I have my Gaming Photography community, which I created to have a space to publish my photos taken during gaming. I'll look to start posting on there again.
I also need to get back into the Hive Gaming community, although I don't curate as much because, like I said, many of the posts I've seen on there are too similar to stuff I would see on Web2 and thus are not interesting to me.
The newest (re)turn I know is coming is getting back into World of Warcraft with blizzards Forever off-shoot. All roads lead back to WoW it seems and with many MMOs not hitting the itch maybe the return to nostalgia-ville will bring an iota of fun. I don't know how far I'll continue it but the fact that there is actual use for the fishing profession is a huge hook (ha ha) to me. So expect something from there from that.
Of course, this is new blizzard so who knows how successful this re-re-re-release will be.
Anyway, this is all building up to restarting my creative engine (Did you see the MSpaint Image I 'expertly' made?) so I don't really mind what happens because at the end of it all there is a purpose and goal.
These are Video Games and I am sharing my insight, what I enjoy, and moments playing them.
Can't wait to see what I manage to create and what reception I'll receive!
Thanks for reading.
Happy Gaming!
