I don't know what attracts me so much in old engravings, but I love to watch, collect, and rework them.

They are a huge source of creativity for me. I particularly like old graphics depicting human anatomy ... There is something very disturbing and fascinating in them. I know that the model is dead, at the same time it's presented as if he was still alive... A dead body watches me as I look into its guts.

For lovers of dark climates, these graphics are very interesting in themselves, I like to "color" them a bit in photoshop and use as printing projects.

Like here:

The text on the shirt is a quote that I used in the title:

Let your fear leap out and bite you

and comes from the book Women Who Run With the Wolves, written by Clarissa Pinkola Estés.

In this form the T-shirt was never printed because I was not sure if using a quote on it would violate copyright or not. In my work, generally, I use graphics marked as open resources, which means that they can be legally used in my own projects. Fortunately, there are more and more places on the Internet where such materials (not only graphics) can be found. I pay great attention to this, because I'am a creator myself.

And here are my next works based on old engravings:

The above visualizations I made using free for commercial use mockups.

And if you are interested in what the original engravings I used look like, voilà:

These original illustrations come from centuries-old books and have been marked as public domain graphics.

I am the author of the presented works (excluding the last graphics described as a source), they are originally published on my portfolio website edytakruczek.pl
