There's a version of this that gets missed: people aren't just getting ruder. They're losing the ability to tell what counts as rude.
Online stripped the feedback loop. You say something sharp, nobody flinches in front of you, your brain never registers it landed wrong. Do that for years and you lose the calibration entirely.
The "OK rudeness" feels like people exporting that broken calibration into real spaces.
