“Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full." This is the bible-text for this sunday.
My first response reading this, is related to the oneness of Jesus' diciples Himself and the Father. The end goal of all mystical teaching, the great experience of enlighted people, and deep religious text is always explained in pictures of oneness. It is undeniable within the realm of human experience, the shared identification with everything living. And can be triggered in many ways. Through rituals, dance, psychadelic substances etc. People with frequent experiences of a mystical form, is also said to be less anxtious about death, and also an alteration of life. What shall we say then when we here talk about this? Is it not completely madness, and dellusion, that everything is one? The multiplicity of the world is clearly seen, everything is different, everything is seperated from each other, you live after this truth, how can it not be a true conception of reality? The question however, is rather, how do you know that your perception of reality is a true representation of it? You build up your reality by deep biological structures of perception, that has helped generation after generation millions of years back, to suvive and to transmit their genes. In other words, your perceptions are oriented after usefulness. But what is useful, is clearly not neceseraly a true representation.
We may ask then as Pilate did to Jesus, "What is truth?". The answer is what Jesus said, silence, He didnt give any answer. We dont know what truth is, however, we can say that representations of the truth that is usefull for you and me, is valid enough as true. Those representations of truth that is life-altering, that brings success in life, is true enough. What becomes so intresting in relation to our descussion over is the fact that yes, we are all different, yes we are all in seperation from each other and everything, yet, the intense mystical experience of the oneness with everything living, each other, the beast on the ground and the bird in the sky, is life-altering. Despite of the intense suffering in creation, there is something absolute wonderful, absolute glories of the whole dance of existence. Why is there not just intense darkness? Behold there is light, behold there is something living, breathing, hearts beating, life exist, you who read this now, are a living soul, and by that you are totally connected and one, with everyone, with Jesus, with the Father. Abide in this truth, abide in His love, and life will be altered, everything seems therefore to be different and seperated, yet it seems also to be one. Amen.
