When I was young I always loved the husky dog breed, mind you I have never been around one. I just saw them on TV and I fell in love. When I turned 21 years old I finally got one! I was so excited and I thought I was prepared to own a husky. I did research for months before I got one and I knew how difficult it would. Oh, the challenges ahead. What did I get myself into....

The day came to go get my very first Siberian Husky! He was perfect he was black and white, had blue eyes, and Fluffy. We named him shadow and he was such a sweetheart. But not for long...

They are not kidding when they say huskies are hard work, and stubborn. And they shed so bad, I swear I have hair embedded in everything. Don’t even get me started on his energy levels, he could run 5 miles at 3 in the morning and be energetic again by 5 am. And a bored husky is a destructive husky, they will tear up anything they can get a hold of. Your puppy proofing skills better be expert level because they are better escape artist than Houdini. Shadow has escaped from his kennel countless times just to destroy a bunch of things because he is bored. But life with a husky is also never boring, they keep you on your toes along with being entertained with their wackiness. Don’t panic when they sleep in weird positions and look broken.

Now that I have a husky I realize how many other people are getting huskies without doing their research. They are the most re-homed dog and it is heartbreaking. I don’t understand how people could do that to an animal THEY WANTED. I would not trade Shadow for anything, he may be hard work and stubborn but I love him and he is my fur baby for life. He is now almost 2 years old now and it has been a rewarding experience.

He has actually made me a healthier and more active person. 🐾
