Do you know you can decide not to get influenced and make the choice to get influenced by someone or something, I mean you can choose to have and accept the behavioral effect or change opinion towards someone through influence by controlling your psychological mindset because you can get easily influenced or fall quickly if your mind isn’t sharp and influence takes place through psychology persuasion. And for you to have influence on someone you have to study the person, know the situation of person, review and look out for your own ability on how to approach the situation.
I would say, Influence as to do with using your ability to gain easy possible access to something or someone by having effect on them. The ability of utilizing influence could end up hurting someone if it’s against their own favour. Influence allows you to get things done easily and to achieve possible desired outcomes. Basically, influence is about compliance, getting someone to do what you want them to do and these could be done either forcefully(Threat) or Self compelling.
During my working days when I run banking errands for my Boss all the time, I hate going to the Banks because of the crowd and their usual delay but I couldn’t ignore going there. As time went on with my usual visit to this particular Bank, I noticed that most people do not have to stay on the queue to wait till it get to their turn, they just walk in and go straight to the counter, do what they came for. And this definitely upset me much like who are these people? don’t they see other people standing and waiting for their turn? sometimes I say these words loud in anger and sometimes I just stay silent of course it’s not just me waiting.
I began to notice how things were done with my usual visit to the Bank by studying the environment and the Bank staff, looking out for easy ways to gain access because I go there almost twice or thrice in every week. So I decided to make friends with some staff of the bank starting from the Bank Security Officers LOL sometimes when the bank is crowded inside they tell the customers to wait outside for the crowd to reduce inside well they were trying to help but sometimes it wasn’t helpful. Just think about what if someone was supposed to have an urgent/emergency transaction or something you have to do quickly in there, you would have to stay outside and wait thank God for Internet Banking.
So I picked them first and this worked for me big time. Sometimes when I see the crowd outside especially on Mondays I just look out for the Security Officer I know, walk up to him with a big smile on my face, exchange pleasantries like I have known him for a long time 😂 and he opens the door for me I just walk in with no stress ignoring the crowd outside because someone would definitely say "she’s just coming and you allowed her in".
When I get into the banking room I also look out for this particular lady that works in the counter, I noticed she was the most friendly staff their and she noticed my face as their regular customer so I made her my friend too. I go straight to her counter ignoring the queue too. Although she would tell me sometimes to hold on if she’s attending to someone but not as long as the usual times I would spend on the queue and sometimes she would attend to me at once.
That was how my everyday banking became stressless and easy with my influence at the bank by being friendly.
