Our territory is called as Kumbang-Rangrang

This animal or species is nicknamed the #Rangrang-Beetle!

That name is often mentioned by local Acehnese people, especially residents of the city of Lhokseumawe even though there is an official name scientifically.

Whatever you call it, even though there are differences in the name for it, that's the beauty of the language in this world. However, each of us knows him and in this post I will personally introduce him to his activities in daily life.

Personally I am very interested in one of these animals, because in plain view the real activities of daily activities such as:

1. Very aggressive
2. Being a sign of plants will bear fruit
3. Nesting inside the plants principal

These three things make us observe its daily activities, with the aim of whether it is damaging to plants or not is a problem with plants that will produce fruit.

Very aggressive

Each type of insect certainly has its own activity, so in carrying out daily activities there are aggressive, super aggressive and even there is not much movement though.

When compared with bees or wasps, it can be said that the beetle-rangrang is a very aggressive or even super aggressive animal or insect, it is never silent from moving in doing something either looking for food or other activities, so that its aggressive level in taking pictures rather difficult especially taking with a smartphone camera.

His super active behavior turned out to have benefits for them in gathering food or making nests and other things he often did.

In a temporary observation I have personally found information about him that he is able to make his nest or supply food in one day one nest or can collect his food one third the size of his nest.

Being a sign of plants will bear fruit

To find it is rather difficult because they are very rarely seen with other insect species, such as butterflies, bees, wasps, or other insect species that always gather in one host plant. The beetle-rangrang is only seen when fruit plants such as mango, guava, and other fruit plants when they want to bear fruit.

This means that it will always be found in plants that will bear fruit, they are in the plant until the time limit for fruit fertilization. When a fruit crop has stopped fruiting, it will move to another location that has the same potential before.

This beetle-rangrang will always eat fruits that are ripe or ready to be harvested, it will always suck the sweet fruit that is in a tree, sometimes they enter the fruit from the inside by digging for fruits that are ready to be picked. Thus it can be concluded that it is an indicator of each plant that will bear fruit.

Nesting inside the plants principal

Even though it is one of the insect species which is used as a sign or indicator of each fruit plant, in the sense that when a plant is flowering for fertilization, it is present in the area, they will make a nest in the stem of the plant. This is caused to facilitate them in finding food and at that time they will multiply in increasing its population.

They have not been categorized as pests if they are in small numbers in one tree because they do not damage much of each new fruit growing, they will choose the fruit that is blooming for their food stock.

Its greed is not comparable to that of other insect pests, because it will choose only one fruit until it decays.

In fact, its existence can repel several other species of pest insects, such as fruit lice and leaf fruits. Its presence in a tree can basically benefit the farmer because of his ego in power who want other insects not to occupy their territory, except those permitted for ant colonies.

That is the beetle-rangrang which is always present in every fruit plant that accidentally keeps fruit from being attacked by other pests. Thus this short presentation hopefully can add to your scientific insight. Thank you very much.
