Rise in food prices is a worrying trend that is not showing any signs of slowing down. While the causes of this increase in prices may vary, the impact on people's daily lives remains the SAME. As the availability of affordable food decreases, the risk of food riots and shortages WILL increase. The current situation in the world is cause for concern, BUT NOT with weather patterns changing and man-made disasters impacting food production. WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO PRODUCE A SURPLUS OF FOOD, BUT THAT IS NOT IN THE INTEREST OF THE RULING FEW.
It is important that all of us as individuals take action and start growing our own food as a means of safeguarding against impending (and fake forcefully imposed) food shortages. We must also push for systemic change to address the root causes of this crisis and move away from a system that is failing us.
