what's up Splinter Player around the world how are you doing? I am sharing my battle this time in new format of battle challenge that discussion about Back to Basic ruleset that means Monster losses all the abilities. So all monster have no ability at all just depending on Summoner Ability. For me this ruleset is very very sucks and annoying. Hard to control and hard to placing the right monster in battle. The option in this ruleset is just 2 using 1 tanker and the rest of monster is magic or using 1 tanker and the rest of monster is Archery or range damage. But, before entering what monster to use we need to pick the right Summoner to support the monster that we bring on battle. In my terms that is just 2 option. First using Obsidian as summoner that will be buff the magic damage (i am owning the NFT at level 4) or i am using Thaddius Brood that will be debuffing the magic damage (i am owning this NFT at level 4). I am not using Grandmaster Rathe at this battle because i am owning the Grandmaster Rathe but the rest of the monster is not very good and i just have very little magic monster in my life deck. Thats why i am choosing Obsidian as you can see in the thumbnail above.Okay let's see the battle to look out what become if the Ruleset is shut down all the ability.

Okay lets discuss the most annoyed Ruleset in splinterland. Back to Basic so all monster back to null dont have any ability to used. with this ruleset eventually depending to the summoner to elevate the monster that we bring.so like i said before this ruleset forcing to think that the best monster to bring is one tanker and the rest is magic monster or one tanker and the rest Range monster. But,range monster is very weak if the summoner did not support with Close Range ability for example. Ranged monster cannot attack in frontliner, that's why many player using magic monster instead range monster. I am rarely encountered player using range monster in Back to Basic ruleset. so in the end most battle is just Magic versus Magic. And as you know from GIF thumbnail above the opponent using Grandmaster Rathe with ability adding 1 armor and give Void Armor ability and amplify. The amplify is useless at the moment but the others ability is give some advantage in Back to Basic ruleset. Let's see my strategy in this battle and go straight to battlephase.

Strategy Phase

Okay in this battle the ruleset is Weak Magic means Magic attacks hit armor before reducing health basically this ruleset is similar with Grandmaster Rathe ability. the second ruleset is Aimless means all monster have scattershot ability. that will make all monster besides tanker will going attack random not focusing on just frontliner. and the last is the most annoying ruleset for me that is Back to Basic ruleset like i said before no monster have abilities. The manacap that can be used in this battle is 43 that is a lot for to bring high manacap monster. The element that cannot be used is Water and Death Element. So that's why i am choosing the Earth Element with Obsidian as summoner because Death element cannot be used and if i am insist to using Grandmaster Rathe the monster that i am bring is not very supported.I have few of monster in life element so the best that i can bring is Earth Element with Obsidian as summoner.
Lets look what i am bring in table below

MonsterPositionAbilityReason
Summoner+1 Magic DamageI am bring this summoners because the only high level summoner that i have is Obsidian the other summoner that i have is Grandmaster Rathe but my monster in Life element is not very good and the rest summoner at same level with Obsidian cannot be used by the ruleset so the best option that i have is just using Obsidian right now.
TankerDouble Strike to noneI am using this monster because this monster have high HP so it will be good as a tanker and can hold 3 until 4 damage before this monster die. and the speed of this monster is average with 3 speed and the melee damage is high 4 melee damage so the best option in Back to Basic ruleset for the tank is Grund at the moment
Attacker & TankerTaunt, Force Field to noneI am bringing this monster because this monster have big Magic attack and big HP to be a tanker. so not only to defend some of the opponent damage this monster also can be give some high damage to opponent.
AttackerFlying to noneI am using this monster because this monster have high magic damage too and the speed is very high so if the opponent bringing range monster can miss to attack this monster because the speed different.
AttackerNoneI am using this monster because i have level 3 of this monster and have 3 basic magic damage that is very high magic monster in there. Hopefully this monster can finishing many monster in opponent side.
AttackerVoid & Camuflage to noneI am using this monster because this monster have high basic magic attack too with 2 basic magic attack that will be 3 magic attack if supported by Obsidian as the summoner. but bringing this monster is also open my weakness to the opponent. For your information if Back to basic ruleset almost magic monster in earth element did not have any shield so with additional Aimless ruleset bringing this monster can be a mistake because this monster just have 2 HP which is with just 1 touch this monster will die immediately.
AttackerTank Heal & Affliction to noneI am bringing this monster because same reason with the monster before this monster have 2 basic magic damage so it wll be 3 magic damage by the support of Obsidian and i am placing this monster in the back because this monster have the slowest speed so if the monster before die this monster can still inflict some damage before reaching to frontline.

So this is my line up strategy what do you think. can this line up capable to handle Grandmaster Rathe line up? Let's see in the battlephase aye.

Battlephase

Okay as you know in this battle i am encountered with Grandmaster Rathe that in same league with me max silver league level.

Round 1

As usual all monster get buff and debuff from both summoners. what makes this battle different is only Ruleset and Summoners that can give buff or debuff to all monster. with Back to Basic ruleset all monster cannot use any abilities in this battle so it will pure battle of matematics from speed damage and the defence.
In early round like that all my monster have disadvantage because my monsters dont have any shield and in contrary with Grandmaster Rathe abilities the opponent monsters got additional 1 Shield and have similar ability with the ruleset Weak Magic that is Void Armor. My Regal Peryton first attacking Time mage and with additional Shield opponent time mage did not die in first damage. so basically the shield is prolong for the turn to take damage. In round 1 basically my monster just opening all shield of the opponent monster and did not giving any damage at all. In contrary my monster got damage in many area. and with armorless this very very disadvantage for me. Hopefuly in round 2 the table can be turned.

Round 2

Going to round 2 my monster like starting to reducing the opponent HP first attacker goes to Regal Peryton to attacking Uriel the tanker after that time mage attacking my Magi of Chaos.and in this round my Regal Peryton fainted by the attack of Djinn Renova.Do not want to lose Mycelic Slipspawn beat Time Mage. But the combination attack from the opponent beating Grund, and Mycelic Slipspawn goes to Front Line. In this round still my team got beaten up still losing the total damage and HP left. hopefully in the next turn the table can be turned.

Round 3 (Final Round)

Okay this is the final round as you can see in the GIF above this time in this battle i am run out of luck the table did not turn anyway. I am lost in this battle the opponent still have 5 monster meanwhile i am just have 4 badly wounded monster and in no time the opponent can cleaning up my monster.

Back to basic ruleset

Conclution

After i am experienced this battle i want to having Grandmaster Rathe and building Life deck in my main account.lol. but i now that must be expensive to build this deck. but yeah slowly but sure i must build life deck to increase my Win rate in ranked battle to get more SPS token as reward and get more daily chest. But for the battle i can say that Option that bringing magic monster in the Back to Basic ruleset is somehow great. but i think Grandmaster Rathe is the natural counter for the magic monster because with Void Armor and Additional Shield it will the opponent losing 1 magic attack turn so the Grandmaster Rathe team will get 1 additional free attack before got the attack. So from my opinion if you have the army of Life monster it is better using Grandmaster Rathe in Back to Basic ruleset.but if the ruleset make the Life element cannot be used i think still bring Obsidian magic army is still the best option.
