Calm Sea on an Ocean World is a wordy title for the painting with such brilliant composition. The lower third of the painting is the sea or surface of an alien world, with an ethereal mist rising above it. The planets or moons are reflected on the surface, subtly coloring the world. Then rising into the sky are two tan and purple planets, each colored by unseen stars off in the distance. Then there is the smaller middle sphere which is brighter, and perhaps closer, maybe as this world’s moon. The three celestial bodies combine to form a rich skyline above this new world.
