Man, that is scary to have the ground just give out and unleash an angry snake. The ones I have seen here were mostly sunning themselves somewhere where you might step on them. I did see one in a parking lot outside of a gas station. There had been a large empty lot next to it that was recently plowed over to be developed and I assume that the snake was displaced. The clerk was standing outside trying to keep people from running it over or parking next to it and getting bitten. I asked what came of it the next time I saw him working and he said that he animal control came to get it and relocate it.

Oddly, while the snakes, and feral domestic dogs are the more realistic threats if you go wondering round the desert here, it has always been mountain lions worry me. We don't have a lot of them but one comes wondering into the city every now and then so they are out there .

We have coyotes too but they rarely attack people.
