We start websites and blog earnestly. Hopeful it will do well, only to find it’s lost in the vast wide world web, where the chances of it been seen is very slim.

Somewhat like playing the lotto:

  • You follow all the rules, hoping you will win. Do all the things on how to trend, SOE keywords, upload appropriate plugins and still struggle to get visitors to your website. It’s like getting one or two dollars on the lottery.
  • You follow all the advice on how to get comments and only one or two people leave comments. But instead, you get millions of scam comments trying to sell you something that doesn’t even have the slightest association with the theme-niche of your website! Just like getting a whole lot of wrong numbers on the lottery! You wonder why you even spent so much money running your website.

It’s like throwing dice:

  • You write exciting blogs with all the right SEO keywords, high-click headlines, yet your site only gets visitors looking for free-handouts.
  • You post your blogs with links on Facebook and Twitter, and maybe one or two people will click on your blog’s link.

It’s like playing snakes and ladders:

One month you have lots of visitors and then the next month very little. For example:

  • Up ladders: Sometimes you move along happily thinking you have got things running fine and you are getting lots of visitors.
  • Down snakes: And then all of a sudden your website is down for some reason other. Perhaps because of a faulty plugin, an ISP PHP problem, etc. You don’t see the 404 pages straight away, and during that time you have lost lots incoming visitors.

The odds of success:

  1. It’s like any game… you continue playing in the hope you will win, sometime or other!
  2. And the other hand, if you never do anything you’ll never win anything, anyway! You’ll be `dead-in-the-water’!
  3. You have to be out there for people to see what you’re offering and up to. See is believing

It’s all about learning the tricks of the game:

Sitting back and complaining that no one clicks on your posts or up-votes you, won’t get results.

To beat the game, you have to know the `system’ and what gets you further along into the game.

  • Get out there and do some research. Try out the advice and find out what works for you
  • People only click your posts if it’s something most people need or crave
  • People only make comments if your post was fun, interesting and thought provoking
  • Your post isn’t about you. There must be a benefit to others. Something free! Everyone benefits when we share!
  • People only follow and up-vote you, if your post was worthwhile and the subject is fill of practical info they can use or bookmark.
  • And if you are not having fun blogging, people don’t feel your enthusiasm. Your enthusiasm has impact on people’s emotions. And people only buy into something if their senses and emotions are involved!
