Beliefs
A famous French writer once said he never voted in his life because he knew the idiots were in the majority and they'd surely win. I posted this quote on social media and the idiots reacted! Angry! Outraged! They said someone like me was the problem—not them! Now that is something I can believe in—human stupidity! Is there any other kind?—goes without saying. We excel in this like nothing else. There's so much to our credit—endless entanglements that lead us to a worst position than where we started. If it wasn't so awful it'd be the best comedy act on stage.
I have religious friends who try to get me to find their savior—it's to help me they say! Really? Might you not benefit a little? Extra brownie points to get in the big H? Ha! What a line we hand each other. We're experts. So what are “your” beliefs?—I hear you asking. Come on fess up! Are you an atheist? Nope. I believe in the almighty—but I don't believe in what humans have created around the almighty. The rituals, characters, stories, psalms, gospels, fables, parables, double-talk, and creeds— the whole religious shooting match published in a number of famous tomes in different lands.
Keep it simple I say. I believe in simplicity. What is the bottom line here? Cut out all the embroidery. Get down to the meat on the bone and—dig your teeth in. I believe in what I can experience. What I can feel—see—hear—not just a theory. I want something I can hold on to and clearly understand. Oh so you say—YOU have felt, seen, or heard God?! YES—that is what I am saying. The spiritual world has reached into mine in no uncertain terms several times in my life. Of course it's my private affair—not yours—and I'm not asking you to accept my experiences or beliefs as your own—no way. In fact you're on your own. You find your own way—while I look the other way. Another thing that famous French writer once said: it's the wise man who looks the other way. Now skedaddle while I'm not looking.
