Hey there, today’s art is a second study of a columbine in both water color and pencil. Like I mentioned in the first study, I wasn’t okay with the shade of purple I used and I mentioned I was going to try again. I’m pretty happy I did.

This time around, I didn’t sketch before painting as regards to the first flower at the top. I mixed marine blue, rose, and cerulean blue in varying proportions. I used from both my Van Gogh and Winsor & Newton sets. I was really determined to get the shade of color right. After I finished up the painting, I went on to sketch for the second one. My rotring pencil is in need of a refill, so I made use of 2B and 6B cretacolor pencils this time. After drawing and shading, I tried painting very light washes of lilac/ purple around the flower. I’m really pleased with how this turned out.

Stick around for the next study ; )
