To go with the prompt, I chose the picture of a lady with an Afro. At first, I wanted to paint in monochrome, but I decided against that. I went with burnt sienna and a light pink for the skin, then I mixed my greens and blues to get the hair color.
It turned out to be really fun!
I’ve come to realize that, when it comes to painting realistic figures, I tend to sketch very loosely. I think is because, of the style of painting I intend to execute and also, if one’s uses pencils heavily and then decided to paint over it, the pencil marks tend to smudge. Unless, it was done intentionally, one’s watercolor might look a bit messy.
I painted over the pencil in layers. I added the green hue from the hair to the eyes also, so it all syncs. I’m happy with the results of this one ; )
I made use of my Sinoart sketchbook, Van Gogh watercolor and brush as well as my rotring mechanical pencil.
