I realized it's been a while since I shared some of my random arts sessions with my daughter. Of all my kids, she's the one that's really into arts. She likes drawing and doodling, painting, origami, actually, anything where she can just simply express herself.
Quick Art: Little Madamoisel
Recently, she's been into drawing faces of girls. They are really just quick doodles- like, less than a minute. Just a few strokes of her pencil and done!
There is something in her drawings that really appeal to me. They are different each time, but she has a particular style in them. She makes them funny by intentionally not adding eyebrows, making big mouths with different shapes and different hairstyles too.
I started keeping them. Some I have already scanned for digital safe keeping while the paper versions are filed in a clear book.
These drawings inspire me to actually learn digital arts. I'd really love to convert them into digital versions and perhaps, NFT's too? Oh well, who knows?!
So just for fun, I tried to trace her drawing using an app on my phone. It was quite tricky since my phone doesn't have a stylus so I was using the tip of my finger. Anyway, here's how it turned out.
Hmm, more practice! 馃槀
Quick Art: Mom
While she's into her version of a girl, 6-year old style, I also made mine. I tried to picture myself when I was a young girl like her, the drawings I used to make too.
Okay, so maybe this is also my way to show her that a girl can have eyebrows too. 馃榿
We can't be finished that soon, though so while we're at it, I also tried to practice a bit more.
Right in front of me are bananas that are ripening too quickly, I decided to freeze the process on paper.
Hmmm, I think I got the outlines nicely so I proceeded to add some highlights and shades to somehow achieve a realistic effect?
I was somewhat pleased with my progress so far, and coloring the drawing seemed to be the next ideal thing to do.
I used colored pencils here, I think three tones of yellow to get to this output. Then the green and brown for the other details.
Here is another version, enhanced via snapseed:
Err, while we're at it, another detail:
Honestly, I am quite pleased with myself. I didn't know I could draw bananas. 馃槀
I was not too quick in photographing my reference though. When I did, it was already the following day and my daughter had already eaten one of the bananas and they now have more brown spots. Lol.
Anyhow, on the side, Little Miss also did another drawing, which she also colored.
It is always refreshing to be doing these art sessions with my children. I get to practice my aging hands, while my kids get to improve their skills and creativity, too.
I'm now more bent than ever to learn digital arts. When I do so, I hope you still won't mind me sharing my progress here!
Hope you all are having a great day!
