How Are You Today?
Are you running out of ideas to keep the kiddos occupied? Are you afraid the kids are getting a lot more screen time during these quarantine period?
Don't give in to them just yet. Hide that remote control in your deepest pockets and begin to get amazed at what kids can do.
Your kids will get bored, and when they do, they will come up with the lots of ideas to amuse themselves. That's what I have observed with my kids at least.
They went hunting this morning!
It was early in the morning, they have not yet even eaten breakfast yet they have already made a big mess in the house. Howwww????
I told them to clean up these alphabet rubber puzzle mats, but they had other things in mind. Little Miss and Little Monster started a hunting game. They need to find something in the house that begins with each letter of the alphabet they have.
Here are some of them:
B for "Ball"
Yey! Great job, mister! One point for you.
L for "Light"
Or "lady bug"? Little Monster got 2 words!
Of course, he insisted that we stick the letter to the wall.
Hmmm, What else?!
Aha! W for "window".
Are we done yet? I need to rest.
Hey, it's C for "chair"! (They were torn between chair and computer).
Do we have more? I see letters everywhere.
Oh, what is this?
P for "printer".
Hey, what letter is this?
Hang on, it's H.
H for "head".
H for "hair".
H for "hand".
Bravo, Little Monster!
Wait, Mommy! I have "E".
E for "eggs"!
Careful, don't break the eggs, Little Miss!
Look what I found on the bed.
Wait, is this a guitar?
No, mommy. It's "U for ukelele". Oh.
X for "xylophone".
Whew! What else can you find?
Nah, we're tired mommy! Let's eat. 馃お
Okay, then! It's time to clean up, then breakfast time!
Learn through play.
The kids had fun, while doing their scavenger hunt. They also took pleasure in making a mess. Lol. At the end of the activity, they learned about the sounds of each letter and found that they can find lots of things in the house to match them.
This also improves their vocabulary, as I challenge them to find other uncommon things to match with their letters.
Best of all they learned how to be competitive, since they needed to find more words to win, and the value of teamwork and orderliness, when it was time to clean up!
Nice work, kids!
How about you, how do your kids spend their free time?
