Disclaimer: The achievement for starting up the game is broken, but you can get it by switching to the game's "beta" in your settings. It's not actually a beta, just a few bug fixes that never got implemented for some reason.
This is a very cute visual novel with beautiful art and endearing characters. But story-wise, it does feel a little thin.
The characters survive on the island based on a notebook written by a mysterious castaway who lived on the island before them. The story initially keeps the writer very mysterious, but then starts to give some breadcrumbs of information - the writer is male and died on the island mostly because he was alone. And that's... where it ends.
The main character loses his memory, but still considers it strange that he encounters animal-eared people on this island. What kind of world does this story take place in and who is our main character? I think the story's scope is meant to focus purely on the main character being on this island with the three characters, but then, maybe their pasts and the world shouldn't have as many unanswered questions.
In terms of pacing, the story feels like you make your merry way through season 1, then the season 1 finale skips right over to the end of season 2. To illustrate, a storm ruins the life they've built together, and they're devastated. Then Momo (one of the girls) finds that new plants have sprouted in the wake of the storm and this rekindles their hope. Then, we cut to them having built back their house and tools even better and... roll credits. It feels a bit rushed.
The characters and individual moments really land with this one, but I'd really like to see the story expanded or continued in some way. Either way, this is a competent and short visual novel you can clear in a pleasant afternoon. Give it a shot if it's your genre.
