Sprint and SoftBank Back New Blockchain Consortium for Telecoms

A group of telecommunications carriers have launched a new Blockcon Consortium.

Some notable companies in the US are Carrier Sprint, Japanese Telecom Giant Software Bank, and Fariatone, among whom are the largest companies in Taiwan.

The effort to rename the Career Blockchain Study Group seems to have grown through a collaboration announced in February. At that time, Sprint and others said they were trying to test a platform, Blockbacken was initially developed by TBCASoft, which aims to improve communication between the carriers. On September 12, 2012, the organization will officially be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in America.

Up to now, the Consortium has already successfully tested the mobile payment system and using the platform, recharge the prepaid phone among different carriers. In future, the group will launch applications for computing, personal authentication, and debt resolution.

Doug Garland, Sprint's Vice for Innovation and Partnership, said in a statement:
