I am a Calabar girl, born and bred in old Calabar city of Cross River State, Nigeria.. we are said to be the most hospitable people in Nigeria, due to our warmth and great delicacies and yes our caring ladies too... well add the guys.. they are warm too... always eager to help...
Another interesting thing about us is our culture and heritage... our dances, our masquerades... Calabar, Oh Calabar... my lovely home...
I do remember growing up, having to run and dance side by side with some of this masquerades... some were scary, others not.. some were friendly, others not... but all in all, you just had to find a space in the crowd to watch them display..
So we all grow up and move to the city, to get good jobs and better lives. And we miss out most of the times on those events that we could watch the masquerades. Our children have never really experienced this thrills we did while growing up...viola...hubby decides, "why not bring them to the city?" And that is how USEN was born...
USEN... indeed a day for us all, from Calabar, the Efiks, to
Enjoy...
