A Walk and a Snak in Florence

This is the first time I publish a post in the #WeekendExperiences Community and join the "Weekend Engagement" activity hosted by galenkp@galenkp.

A greeting then to all the members of this Community, which I discovered thanks to some users of the the Italian Community Olio di Balena (p1k4ppa10@p1k4ppa10, who I hope is fine and will be able to come back on Hive soon, and mikezillo@mikezillo): I do hope I got all the rules right and that I will be able to join the future editions of this contest with some regularity as well, since this year I would like to find the time to share here on Hive some moments of my life, besides my usual activities in the gaming world! :)

Let's Start!

Among the topics suggested this week, I saw that there is one that looks perfect for me to start with:

What weekend activities are you getting involved with this weekend and why?

Why is it perfect?

Because I am lucky enough to be able to spend every weekend with my girlfriend, so we always have some planned activity and something to do, no matter if it's just taking a walk together, cooking some new dish or watching a TV series.

This weekend, specifically, we will be in Florence, my hometown, and the weather is not looking too good: although the weather is much, much warmer than usual, the skies are always gray and cloudy, with frequent drizzle that often kills any desire to get out.

However, both my girlfriend and I love to go for a walk together, and we hardly spend a day without going out for at least a short trip.

One of our favorite destinations, when we don't want to go too far from home, is Villa al Ventaglio, an ancient villa set in a large park open to the public.

The park is large, slightly uphill as the villa sits on top of a hill, full of trees and has a small pond where some turtles and fish - including a huge carp! - live.

At the end of the main road winding through this beautiful garden stands Villa al Ventaglio, which, however, is not accessible to the public and can only be observed from a certain distance, partly due to the proliferation of the surrounding nature in the area.

Once you get to the top, all that's left to do is to turn back, maybe walking along some of the smaller and more hidden paths that, after a brief dive into nature, allow you to pop up again in the lower part of the park, but not before having seen some squirrels or spotted some mushrooms!

Once the walk is over, if I know my girlfriend a little, I can already imagine what the next destination might be: a place to get a snack!

In fact, depending on the time of day, it may still be too early to go back to prepare dinner, so why not stop on the way back to eat or drink something warm?

Back home at last, it will be time to take a nice shower, cook something, and watch a TV series or movie to end what may not be the most adventurous of weekends, but will certainly be a quiet and beautiful day to spend in with my sweetheart.

If you've read this far, thank you! If you want to leave an upvote, a reblog, a follow, a comment... well, any sign of life is really much appreciated!
