CryptoBrewMaster CBM: It is worthwhile to complete missions that cost CBM?

It has been over a week since I have started testing out a new Hive Blockchain Game called Cryptobrewmasters. In the game, you can perform tasks that will earn you ingredients, which you can then use to brew beer in game. However, there are tasks that cost CBM to perform. CBM is the in game token. So the post today is about whether it is worthwhile to perform the tasks that require CBM.

If you click on the Pub icon, and then click on Bulletin Board, you will see these daily quests.

They may vary on a daily basis, however what you will notice is that there are daily quests that provides you with 5 Neutral ingredients and 2 Good Ingredients. If you want to have a better understanding of the different grades, I touched on it on my previous Post:

In essence, there are currently 5 grades ingredients (ranking from most common to the least common):

N - Neutral
G - Good
O - Outstanding
E - Excellent
M - Masterpiece

Daily quests allows you to earn Neutral ingredients and Good ingredients.
You need the following items to perform daily quests

Time: there will be a cooldown once you start a daily quest
Energy: it is that lightning bolt icon displayed on the main screen
CBM: in game token

Daily quests for Neutral ingredients requires time and energy. However, Daily quests for Good Ingredients requires time, energy and CBM token. So lets take a look at whether it is worth it to perform those daily quests.

Daily quests to get Good Ingredients

Good Local bittering Hops

Time: 15 min
2 Energy
9 CBM

Good Local Aroma Hops

Time: 25 min
3 Energy
8.5 CBM

You can see that the time it take to perform these tasks are much quick than the daily quests for neutral ingredients, but the cost is CBM tokens.

To Brew Beer you need 5 ingredients:

Brewing Water (Good)
Row Barley Malt (Good)
Local Bittering hops (Good)
Local Aroma hops (Good)
Yeast (Good)

So in total you are looking at around 45 CBM to gather the necessary Good ingredients to brew beer.

To put that into perspective:

When you brew a beer, you can expect to sell it for the current in game prices

Neutral Beer: 29.05 CBM

Good Beer: 31.96 CBM

As you can see, the cost of performing daily quests already exceeds the sell price of the Good and Neutral beer. Yes, the use of Good ingredients does give you a higher chance of getting higher grade beer:

The Beer Grade distribution we get are as follows:

N - Neutral: 2.61%
G - Good: 83.66%
O - Outstanding: 10.48%
E - Excellent: 2.61%
M - Masterpiece: 0.65%

You are most likely going to get a Good Grade beer, the chances for higher grade beers are smaller but not impossible. So it would probably make sense if you get higher grade beer (less likely) and the sell price is higher than 45 CBM.

Therefore, given that the cost of doing quests is higher than the expected sell price of the beer, it does not seem to be worth it to do the daily quests that cost CBM for now. You should probably just focus on the daily quests that uses time and energy.

Why?

Here are 2 scenarios:

I just do the daily quests for neutral ingredients
I do all the daily quests (neutral ingredients + good ingredients)

Scenario 1:

I get all the neutral ingredients to Brew a beer.
Very likely that I will brew a Neutral beer in game - earn 29.05 CBM

Scenario 2*:

I get all the neutral and good ingredients to Brew beer.
It is likely that I will brew a Neutral beer and Good beer in game - earn 29.05 CBM and 31.96 CBM, which is roughly 61 CBM
Cost of CBM spent in quest to get 5 Good Ingredients: around 45 CBM
I end up with 16 CBM
(Daily quests are reset daily, and normally there are only 2 Good ingredients that can be obtained via daily quests, the above is just for illustrative purposes)

let me know if I missed something, the above is just my opinion and asking the opinion from existing users, you can do what is comfortable to you. There is also energy cost which I will go through on the next post.
