Two days after Diwali, Lord Chitragupta is also worshiped on Yama Dwitiya and Bhaiya Duj festival. Lord Chitragupha keeps the whole account of the sin-virtue of man.
On this day people take bath in the morning and worship Lord Chitragupta and remember their adorable God and then put a complete account of one year on white paper and put them in front of God. After doing all this, the offerings of ginger and jaggery are offered to Lord Chitragupta.
Such is the origin of Lord Chitragupta:
According to the Puranas, when Brahma ji created the creation, then he gave the task of keeping the account of the deeds of all living beings. When his work was affected due to excessive death and punishment, Yamraj demanded a qualified minister from Bramha ji. Upon hearing this Brahma ji assured him and went on austerity for years. Thousands of years later, a divine man was born from his work. Brahma ji opened the eye and gave blessings to the divine man and said that he was born from my body, therefore your caste will be Kayastha and if you were secret in my picture then your name would be Chitragupta.
