Recuva is a freaking awesome! I was a bit depressed cause.. I had been working on a video for a couple days and it was just about done, and for some illogical, irrational, DUMB reason.. I deleted the main movie file and somehow thought that was okay and that I was going to replace it with a new one, which doesn't even make sense.. Cause it had to be the exact same file..
But anyways.. I went in and tried to restore the file from my recycle bin.. And for the first time ever.. My recycle bin was corrupted or something.. It wouldn't let me. It kept freezing whenever I opened the recycle bin.. At this point I started getting super nervous and self attacky and beating myself up for thinking I wasted a couple days..
So I did a lil googling and found the program Recuva.. And after a bit of messing around with it, I managed to go into safe mode and delete the stuff in the recycle bin and then I used Recuva, found it, restored it.. And it fucking worked! Woohoo!
Seriously.. If you've ever lost important files before, you should know just how important that is. I also found out that you can go WAY back and restore deleted files from a long time ago, so.. Sometime soon I'm going to take a look.. There were some older video files I accidentally deleted as well that I thought I had backed up at the time.. And if Recuva is able to recover them.. It will be absolutely fucking amazing and awesome.
Recuva is free, though there's a paying version where you get even more options including a "military level" delete function.. They claim you can.. Permanently delete things in a way that it can't be retrieved.. I have my doubts about this! Though.. It sounds pretty fascinating and I wonder how true it is.. Since I've been told you basically need to like destroy the hard drive with a hammer or something extreme to really wipe it.. I wonder if that tool works? Hm.
Anyways.. I need to pass out after a long freaking stressful day.. I'm going to sleep pretty good after that I think! If any of you have lost any files.. I highly suggest giving Recuva a try! It saved my ass a couple days of lost time already, and may be able to do even more than that!
