Technically no amount of steem ever leaves the blockchain. It is just transfered to an account that is controlled by a third party. In that sense steem-engine is just like any other exchange.

The system does not use the median price to calculate the amount of steem earned, It uses it t calculate the amount of sbd when applicable. You are confusing cause with effect. Check one of your posts

No, there are plenty of posts that explain how the payouts work. If the system worked the way that you described it the amounts of steem created would increase when the price goes down. That never happens,

You are making the mistake in assuming that the SBD payout is the same in all 3 scenarios...it is not. At 0.25 the SBD payout is 0.75 x 0.25 = 0.1875, at 1.00 it is 0.75 x 1 = 0.75 and at 3.00 it is 0.75

In fact, the lower the quotation of steems against the dollar, the more steem power we receive for our posts (and even comments) that have received one or more upvotes. I don't no if this is a problem

May I ask at which page in the whitepaper does it state how they were supposed to use their stake? I don't recall reading that. I don't disagree that the usage of their resources has been subpar (at best)

First and foremost it wasn't mined for free. At the time they invested in opening several instances of steemd in AWS. No one else cared to do the same and they were very open about their intention to acquire
