I knew that they had made several renovations to the boulevard, since the reopening of the Mukumbary Cable Car system, but I was surprised to see so many positive changes, such as the width of the sidewalks, now, they are more comfortable and spacious, ideal for children to have a place to play and enjoy, now has some decorations on its concrete roadway, a beautiful lighting at night and some aluminum benches to rest while enjoying the architecture of the area.
This beautiful building was built by the Italian architect Alfredo Colli. It has a Moorish look, influenced by several other styles. Almost all the materials used were imported, except for the mahogany used in the doors and windows, which was Cuban. It is located on Calle 37 corner Ave.0, in Punta Gorda, one of the most beautiful areas of Cienfuegos, although a little far from downtown.
It is called la "Puerta de los Pájaros", in English the Gate of the Birds (or also Puerta del Moro, Moro's Gate), and it is flirtatious as well as harmonious with those sinuous curved lines that seem to integrate well with everything around it without attracting attention, although paradoxically it draws our attention for that very characteristic modernist style of the famous architect of the Sagrada Familia as well.
