Space-X Starlink Causing Light Pollution Problem

SpaceX wants to Surround the Earth with 12,000 satellites and provide broadband internet to every corner of the globe. The project is called Starlink The first 60 Starlink satellites were launched on May 23rd, creating a train of bright lights in the night sky. A video showing this image was made the night after the launch:
But, some scientists, astronomers, and environmentalists who love the beauty of the night sky are not so impressed. The flares are pretty, but some astronomers are concerned. Will 12,000 artificial stars criss-crossing the night sky, sometimes flaring brighter than most stars, make deep-sky observing impossible? Will the endless light pollution make nature even more of a junkyard mess amid whirling windmills, all our fields covered in panels, eyesore buildings and skyscrapers, and light pollution too extreme to see the real beauty of nature? It’s an important question.
“I could see the entire train of satellites with the unaided eye,” the maker said.
Since then, sky watchers have been catching the “Starlink Train” — often by accident. “I saw it last night around 9:30 pm in Piseco, New York,” reports Christopher Hayes. “I just happened to look up at the right moment. Anyone who didn’t know what it was would have been in for quite a surprise!”
The satellites are flaring. Sunlight is glinting off flat surfaces on the satellites’ bodies, creating flashes of light that can briefly rival the brightest stars in the sky. Here are two flares photographed on May 26th by an astronomy professor at the University of Alabama:
“I saw a pass of the Starlink Train about 15 degrees from zenith over Tuscaloosa,”. “Some of them showed very systematic flaring, flashing brightly at nearly the same location in the sky. The brightest flares reached a magnitude of -2 for about 5 seconds.” For reference, that’s 50% brighter than Sirius, the brightest star in the sky.
On May 27th, a photographer photographed a cluster of 4 flares over Mt. Airy, Maryland. “I could see them despite horrible conditions — clouds, humidity, airplanes everywhere!”
The regularity of the flares observed might mean they’re predictable, in which case, big telescopes could perhaps learn to avoid them. We’ll find out soon enough as SpaceX plans to launch at least two more trains this year.
The Train no longer looks as it did on the first night as Individual satellites are fading in brightness as they drift away from each other. Some speculate that it’s a test run that will drift apart rapidly and be falling back to earth however and won’t be there for very long to see at all. In time we will see indeed!
One thing is for certain, having broadband infrastructure that can reach remote areas providing either a quality alternative or lower cost alternative to expensive networks could potentially be a blessing to everyone.
The most important question however that seemingly no one will ask is “but will this network cause even more imbalance of power to Silicon valley, resulting in total internet control & voter and user manipulation just like the internet search engines & social media is already doing, in globalist totalitarian anti-free speech controls spreading like wildfire across the Silicon Valley controlled internet?”
Does the world really want their entire media & indoctrination of their citizens done by a few radical far left-wing extremists blocking all centrist and right of center opinion, even blocking all independent medias, commentators, foreign officials like Myanmar generals for example, or blocking anyone who doesn’t 100% comply to their talking points in radical extremist Silicon Valley style? Probably not, and hence why Fakebook is completely blocked by governments in Asia still yet today.
One thing is for certain, governments better be asking such questions before allowing foreign propaganda hostile to their much more wholesome family oriented cultures and values being bombarded into their cultures and societies with radical totalitarian controls against such values. California, Fiscally Bankrupt with radical statistical social success failure metrics spiralling out of control in: debt, crime, violent crime, drug use and drug crime, children out of wedlock, killing of children, child exploitation, child sexual abuse, child hypersexualization, sexualized propagandization and indoctrination of children in schools, transsexual dysphoria, gender dysphoria, adultery rates, broken family rates, depression rates, suicide rates, zero control of immigration, opioid and drug use rates, OD rates, homelessness rates, even statistics like voter fraud, immigration fraud, illegal immigration, disrespect for the law, all skyrocketing & being culturally indoctrinated along with corrupt centralization of political voting control being pushed now also to invert the spread of true representation of the people across a nation’s total area in a massive anti-representation move in the usa to eliminate their electoral college which would concentrate the entire voting representation to a mere 0.5% of the land base of the country. Will such new world wide web eliminate the entire voting and representation base only to silicon valley? If you watch whats happening to the internet, you will certainly be concerned when they control all the ISPs also. Very very concerned.
Some people & governments would be right to be very concerned of such radicalization & indoctrination programs from foreign powers with zero checks balances and such disrespectful attitudes by their foreign centralizers towards culture, law, rights and freedoms of not only their own people, but especially others to which they are not even legally bound to overseas.
Let’s not merely hope it works out, just like the threats that other techs like AI pose for society culturally, we need to make sure these techs are used for the best of societal good, not just for one foreign cities’ cabal & ponzi scheme investors to make profit, or as control machinations for radical leftist fascism to be spread, and that requires the appropriate checks and balances to be put in place, not merely trust that somehow “The Mount Diablo Culture” will magically finally police itself, which it has totally failed to do nor even be interested to do to any level on any meaningful metric to date.
