The first models were on the market in April 1991. The big retro-style roadster was declared by the manufacturer as a "sport-oriented" model. As with other Suzuki models of that period, the letter "G" means cardan transmission. The engine is borrowed from the GSX-R 1100, with minor changes to the carburettor. Take out 98 hp at 7,500 rpm and torque 99 Nm at 4,750 rpm. Low engine speeds for a four-cylinder engine, which ensures a savvy road behavior.
Heavy metal
A "small" problem is given by weight: it weighs 280 kg with the fillings made. But that says a lot, and how the motorcycles were manufactured a quarter of a century ago. Metal, metal and metal. Even the lighthouse was not made of plastic but of glass
Photos are not eloquent. Who really saw such a model knows what we're talking about. Two exhaust drums, chrome gales over which time is not seen, classic round dials, cardan, all have a visual impact.
The high mass of the motorcycle also ensures good stability. Once in motion, it was comfortable and fast. In fifth (last), it runs gently over idle (1,500 rpm), and from there it resolves any traffic situation. Obviously, in the case of low speed maneuvers, such a model requires more attention or effort. Except for the lifeless dampener, GSX 1100 G owners praised the reliability and declared it almost indestructible. Eloquent is the assertion made on a forum in 2014 by an owner who bought the motorcycle in 1993 and intends to keep it for the next twenty years.
The latest Suzuki GSX 1100 Gs left the factory in December 1994.
