Hello dear Hivers, today we're talking about cuttings and wild plants and trees ! So, generally speaking, no, this technique isn't new, it's just new to me !

Wild trees offer wonderful possibilities and opportunities, precisely because they are wild. You can use them for food, to enrich biodiversity, to treat yourself, to make dyes and many other uses.

On my morning walk, I came across the sign I'd been looking for: the pink fruit of a European fusain - Euonymus europaeus. Beware, the fruit is extremely poisonous, except to birds such as blackbirds and sparrows. It's a good idea to plant trees like these to feed the birds, rather than them eating the fruit from the other trees in the orchard.

Here's the harvest, a beautiful bunch of branches, not too young and not too old. They need to have grown some wood. But with a harvest like this, I can already make at least 20 trees.

The second tree is a Hawthorn, probably Crataegus monogyna. This shrub is useful for grafting other fruit trees, but what interests me most is its protective properties against heart disease. The flowers and berries are made into herbal teas.

And here they are, added to the harvest !

For the soil, I used well aerated mole soil and I wanted to use these pots of old plants already in the garden.

The technique is called "heel cutting". It involves pulling a secondary branch off the main branch...

I scrape the sides a little to help the roots take hold, and then I simply put it in the ground.

I'm doing the same thing with the hawthorn and grouping everything together to the south of the house, so that there's still a bit of warmth !

That's about it for today, and I'd like to thank you for your visit. Please don't hesitate to let me have your secret techniques and any tips you may have for taking cuttings and propagating your plants.

I wish you all a very pleasant day,
