In the second week of July, I was worried that my son got sick. He had a fever every night but it is normal during the day. I thought bad things about his health. I thought a lot of misconceptions. He had also a cough. Then his feet are cold. Then, he had diarrhea. His poo is watery. I was afraid that maybe he will dehydrate because of too much liquid that comes out of his body.
So, My husband bought a Pedialyte for Dehydration. I was reminded by the doctor before that it is dangerous when a human has lost a lot of water from the body by having watery dirt or always vomiting. In that way, it can kill a person. It needs to be hurried to the doctor for a check-up so that it can recover easily. That was his advice to me because one of the doctor's relatives died because of dehydration.

This drink can be consumed for 24 hours after you open it. Then, place it in the refrigerator. We bought this before my son went to the doctor.
This drink was recommended to me when I was hospitalized because I had labored with my son and had diarrhea then. This liquid can be drunk by adults as well. Instead of drinking water, let the kid drink this because as the doctor said that consuming water can make the tummy bloated. There is also dehydration powder that can be mixed into 200-250 ml of water. This powder is prescribed by his doctor. We mix this powder with water. It is drunk when his poo is watery.
Oregano Herbal Plant (Kalabo plantasCebuano Dialect)
The scientific name of this herb is "Origanum Vulgare. The English name is "Oregano, Mountain Mint, or Marjoram". I plant this herb in my backyard because I search how effective it is for the cough, especially for children. It is proven by other mothers who used this plant. When I had a hard cough before, I bought medicine at the pharmacy but it was ineffective. It took a month and weeks that make me suffer the hard cough. What I did before was, use this herbal plant 3 times a day.
The result was great. I had cured my cough for a few days. I was so happy that's why I applied it to my son. However, it wasn't every meal he took the herbal because I was in a hurry, especially at the end of the school year. A lot of things to comply with. I can only prepare him the herbal every morning because I am in school teaching kids. His grandmother couldn't make it because my son wants his grandmother all the time on his side to play.
Thinking the causes of his fever
I decided to go with my son to a massage therapist who can identify if the child has a problem with his vein at the back or in his breast because some mothers said that it could be the cause of his cough. They said it is normal for the age of my son because of being too playful and will curious to discover the things that surround him. That's why they stumble through running too fast or from playing with other kids. They call it a term in the Cebuano dialect "lisa'" (the vein is not in the proper position). The therapist said that his back and his breast had problems that may cause his cough.
As a mother, I was worried that maybe there is dengue because almost every day it was raining all the time. So, that is why I decided for him to have a check-up with the doctor. His grandparents and I went to the doctor on the 15th of July at a private clinic in Bogo City, Cebu. There, he had a laboratory for blood and urine test. The result was, he had Urinary Tract Infection. The cause is wearing diapers especially if the child in a day doesn't like to wear them. He never urinates on his diaper in the evening because he holds it. Also, it causes when the diaper cannot be changed after long hours.
Therefore, I decided to stop him from wearing the diaper. I can also benefit as well because I can save money and my son is already trained earlier at the age of two. I know someday he can wake up at midnight just to urinate independently. I sacrifice to wake him up just to urinate even though it is tiresome.
Here is the prescription from his doctor
There is salbutamol for his cough. It is a syrup for kids. I already threw the bottle because it is already empty. He needs to take 3ml thrice a day after every meal. He had also Zinc Bos that can take once a day. He also took Cefuroxime which is antibacterial for his Urinary Tract Infection and it can be taken after breakfast and supper. The dosage for antibacterial is 2.5 ml. This antibacterial is his dislike because he can vomit when he tastes it. What I did is using a dropper so that he can easily swallow it.
This is the powder used to mix the milk because my son is still drinking milk but in a bottle not in the feeding bottle. The doctor recommended mixing this with his milk so that his dirt will not be watery. Milk can make diarrhea worst. That's why the doctor told us to mix this powder when we prepare his milk. But, one sachet per day is to be consumed.
The doctor told us to buy this one for his protection from mosquitoes. He said there are many cases of dengue at this time. He said to put this on my child in the morning and the protection is until afternoon. I like this product. I bought all the products or the medicines from Doctor Layese at Bogo City Clinic in barangay Sambag who is the doctor of my son. We had our laboratory in his clinic. So, there's no hassle for us to go to another laboratory clinic. I recommended this doctor for children because he is an approachable doctor. He never scolds you because is an amiable one. You can buy these products with a prescription but the doctor has these products in his clinic. There's no need to go to the pharmacy.
The doctor said that we will come back after seven days so that he can check the urine result of my son after taking the medicine. Then, the result is normal. Before it was 2-9/hpf, and the 2nd result after 7 days is 0-2/hpf. The doctor said that 0-2/hpf is normal. I was happy because my son's Urinary Tract Infection is gone. At this time, I am careful about my son's health. I wanted him to drink water a lot. I will avoid any products that are ready to drink. I stop him from using diapers. I wake him up at midnight to urinate. It is better to avoid things that are unhealthy to keep the doctor away.
