A pet I would love to own is a horse. Now I know what you must be thinking, oh she’s a girl, it’s so obvious she wants a horse. But it is more than just a childhood dream to me.
A horse is a perfect example of a gentle giant. One of their interesting personalities traits, is that they are all so very different. They are a great example to not be like everyone else but be yourself.
Now you may be thinking how can you be sure about all this? Well, I can assure you, I know horses pretty well. I have been riding horses since I was four years old.
As I got a bit older I didn’t just ride - when I got back from my ride or my riding lesson I would help out around the farm. During that time, I would do chores like picking up the horse poo, refilling and cleaning the water bowls, making their food for the next day, brushing and grooming them and finally, taking ticks off and putting ointment or medicine on them. I even moved them from one pastor to another bigger one. I would often stay most of the day.
Now you’re probably thinking why would you want to do all that when you could just go and ride. Well, as much as I love to ride, I love doing the work too.
I know it sounds strange but I just love doing the work mostly because it allowed time to bond with the horses. And also so I could learn what to do around the farm.
I still love riding, a lot - in fact riding is one of my favourite things to do. When I’m riding I feel free, like I can do anything and everything. I feel that it is one of the most amazing things you can ever feel. Yes, it can be scary sometimes. But when I feel that wind in my hair or when the horse starts running at a pace you could never imagine running yourself, it makes all of your worries meltaway. I could never ever fully describe that feelings of happiness and contentment, of either riding or even taking care of a horse but that is why I would love to own a horse.
