We fondly remembered our engagement—which took place a year ago—this past September 29th. It is incredible that a week has already gone by; last Tuesday, we were reminiscing about that wonderful, beautiful day when my boyfriend proposed. It was such a special date—the night we decided to get engaged and marry. Our wedding is fast approaching, and it is lovely that it falls close to the day we got engaged, so we will be marking these significant dates one after the other.

To mark the occasion, we both decided to give each other lovely little gifts; I gave him a beautiful surprise box containing small photos of our engagement and other happy days we’ve shared, along with some sweets and sweet notes reminding him how much I want to be by his side and how happy I am to have had him in my life since the day we met.

That’s why today I’m sharing the process of making this surprise box for my beloved; I hope you like it! 🤭 You can tell I put a lot of effort and creativity into making it look as beautiful as possible. Here are the materials:

Paso 01

Step 01

For the first step, I began by carefully cutting out the photographs and text I planned to place inside the small box. Next, I moved on to the cardstock; I only had red cardstock available—which came in a folder—so I made sure to square it up properly before cutting a full strip from it. I repeated this process with the white cardstock. I measured the width of the box (10 cm) and marked that measurement on the cardstock; the white piece would serve as the base, while the red piece would go on top, so I cut the red strip to a width of 8 cm.

Next, we will measure the sides of the small box; using this measurement, we will create small, fan-folded strips. The idea is to fold the cardstock and then insert it into the box. We repeat this process with the red cardstock. You can choose the length based on your preference or how many folded strips will fit inside the box. Shape the top into an oval, then cut a heart shape out of shiny red cardstock and glue it onto the white cardstock; finally, glue the red piece on top.

Next, I glued the photographs onto the bright red paper and trimmed the edges with my decorative scissors to make them look much nicer; then, I took the grosgrain ribbon and made small bows to place on the corners of my creation.

Next, I glue the folded ribbon—arranged in accordion-style pleats—inside the small box; I placed a red cardstock base underneath to support it well and secured it with hot glue. Then, I started attaching the photos, text, and candies.

Then, I attached a strip of red cardstock to the sides; we folded the parts of the strip extending beyond the photos inward, so that when the box is opened, the photos pop out from the sides 🥰. I finished by decorating the outside of the box with more photos and tiny hearts.

And so, the little box was finished; I ended up adding one final touch—a small pick reading "Happy Anniversary," nicely decorated with other details and a deep red bow, since that’s a color he likes 😌❤️.
