I don’t know if this happens to a lot of people, but as soon as September rolls around, I start to smell the scent of Christmas in the air. I know it happens to me because I love Christmas, and around this time of year I even start pulling out my Christmas mugs, but I also start to notice it in the city—in stores, in the ham bread on sale at bakeries, and with many vendors already offering hallacas.
The scent of Christmas is something spiritual, and one of the things that brings me the most joy is carrying it with me and knowing that long before December, I can bring it out and enjoy it.
A few days ago, I went to the supermarket, and I felt excited to see that they were already starting to stock the shelves with Christmas decorations. That got me back in the Christmas spirit and made me start planning how I’m going to decorate, what I want to do during this time, what meals I’m going to prepare… and everything else I traditionally do during the Christmas season.
This year went by so fast—it feels like last Christmas was just a few days ago. My “Christmas mode” lasts for many months, and I enjoy every single detail of it to the fullest.

No sé si a muchos les ha pasado, pero desde que comienza septiembre, ya yo comienzo a sentir el aroma navideño en el aire. Sé que a mí me sucede porque amo la navidad, y desde estos meses comienzo incluso a sacar mis tazas navideñas, pero también comienzo a percibirlo en la ciudad, en los comercios, en la venta de pan de jamón en las panaderías, y muchos emprendedores ya ofreciendo hallacas.
El aroma de la navidad es algo espiritual, y una de las cosas que más me alegra es llevarlo conmigo y saber que mucho antes de diciembre, puedo sacarlo y disfrutarlo.
Hace días fui al supermercado, y me sentí emocionada al ver que ya comenzaban a colocar los anaqueles con adornos navideños. Eso me hizo reordenar mi estado de ánimo navideño, y comenzar a planificar cómo voy a decorar, qué cosas quiero hacer en estos días, qué comidas voy a preparar... y todo lo que tradicionalmente acostumbro a hacer en la época navideña.
Este año se fue muy rápido, pareciera que apenas hace días era la navidad pasada. Mi modo navidad dura muchos meses, y yo lo disfruto completito con todos sus detalles.
