Last Saturday, a free sterilization event organized by Misión Nevado Anzoátegui took place between the cities of El Tigre and Guanipa.
It was necessary because the number of rescued and adopted animals seems to rise every day—not to mention the many still living on the streets.
Animal advocates and foundations work tirelessly every day, fighting tooth and nail to provide all the support they can to these little angels, but it is not an easy task.
There has always been a firm belief that sterilization is one of the most viable ways to curb the growing number of homeless animals. However, there is also a desire to stop animal abandonment—though that often feels like a lost cause, as people seem to have lost all sense of humanity and compassion.
My daughter and her boyfriend rescued and adopted a pair of kittens; the female actually showed up at his house, and later on, they adopted the male kitten. This weekend, they took them to the sterilization event and had the opportunity to attend an awareness talk given by the team.
It is wonderful to see so many people dedicated to this cause, yet there are still so many others out there who not only abandon these animals but also mistreat the vulnerable ones.
My message whenever I write a post about sterilization is: "Rescue, adopt, and sterilize... but above all, care for them and give them lots of love."

Saludos a todos, bienvenidos a mi blog.
Este sábado pasado, se llevó a cabo entre las ciudades de El Tigre y Guanipa, una esterilización gratuita promovida por Misión Nevado Anzoátegui.
Era necesaria, porque cada día pareciera que aumentara la tasa de animales rescatados y adoptados, y ni hablar de los que siguen en situación de calle.
Los proteccionistas y las fundaciones siguen realizando su labor a diario con uñas y dientes, para brindar todo el apoyo posible a estos angelitos, pero no es fácil.
Siempre se ha mantenido la convicción de que la esterilización es una de las medidas más viables de frenar un poco el éxodo de animales desamparados, pero por otro lado, también se quisiera controlar el abandono, y pareciera que es un caso perdido, la gente ha perdido todo sentido de humanidad y sensibilidad.
Mi hija y su novio rescataron y adoptaron a un par de gatitos, realmente la gatita apareció en la casa de él, y al tiempo, adoptaron al gatito. Este fin de semana los integraron en la jornada de esterilización y tuvieron la oportunidad de escuchar la charla de concientización que les brindó el equipo.
Es hermoso ver la cantidad de gente abocada a seguir este proceso, pero también es mucha la gente que queda allá afuera no sólo abandonando, sino maltratando a los que están desamparados.
Mi mensaje cada vez que hago un post acerca de la esterilización es: "Rescata, adopta y esteriliza... pero sobre todo, cuídalos y dales mucho amor".
