Hi hivers! Today I want to share with you the process of a little drawing I made with a ballpoint pen. It's simple, no eraser, just letting my hand flow.
Lately I've been practicing anime-style profiles, I find them super expressive even with just a few lines. I wanted to add a detail that would give it some feeling, and a rose came to mind.
Hola, hivers! Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes el proceso de un dibujito que hice a bolígrafo. Es sencillo, sin borrador, solo dejando que la mano fluya.
Últimamente he estado practicando perfiles estilo anime, que me parecen super expresivos aunque lleven pocas líneas. Quise agregarle un detalle que le diera sentimiento y se me ocurrió una rosa.
Materials:
• White sheet of paper • Black ballpoint pen (the classic one) • A lot of willpower
The process - step by step:
Step 1: The profile base
I started with just the outline. A soft line for the chin and neck, the pointed nose and the most important part for the anime style, the spiky hair with zig-zag strokes. No eyes yet, just the silhouette.

El proceso - paso a paso:
Paso 1: La base del perfil
Empecé solo con el contorno. Una línea suave para la barbilla y el cuello, la nariz puntiaguda y lo más importante para el estilo anime, el pelo en picos, con trazos en zigzag. Sin ojos todavía, solo la silueta.
Step 2: Giving it direction
Here I marked the eyebrow and the line where the eye would go. This helps me not to lose the proportion of the profile face. You can already start to feel the gaze.
Paso 2: Dando dirección
Aquí marqué la ceja y la línea donde iría el ojo. Esto me ayuda a no perder la proporción del rostro de perfil. Ya se empieza a sentir la mirada.
Step 3: The look that changes everything
This was my favorite step. I drew the eye, with its shine and marked lashes. Immediately the drawing came to life and gained expression. I added a subtle little smile and some more details to the hair to give it volume with quick hatches.
Paso 3: La mirada que lo cambia todo
Este fue mi paso favorito. Dibujé el ojo, con su brillo y pestañas marcadas. De inmediato el dibujo cobró vida y expresión. Le agregué una sonrisita sutil y algunos detalles más en el pelo para darle volumen con rayitas rápidas.
Step 4: The final detail
To finish, I didn't want to leave it alone. I drew a rose in front of him, as if he were contemplating it. I also drew the shirt collar. I think the rose gives it a romantic and nostalgic touch that I really like.

Para cerrar, no quería dejarlo solo. Dibujé una rosa frente a él, como si la estuviera contemplando. También le hice el cuello de la camisa. Creo que la rosa le da un toque romántico y nostálgico que me gusta mucho.
It's not a perfect drawing, it has its scratches and repeated lines, but it's handmade and made with a lot of love. That's what I like about pen, there's no going back, you have to keep going and turn the mistake into part of the style.

No es un dibujo perfecto, tiene sus rayones y líneas repetidas, pero es hecho a mano y con mucho cariño. Eso es lo que me gusta del bolígrafo, no hay vuelta atrás, tienes que seguir y convertir el error en parte del estilo.
