Who's on your list?
When you think about your special day you don't see all of your aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews or even your parents.
(Sorry but It's the truth)
You see the person that you are going to spend the rest of your life with and you envision the first dance and his expression when you finally walk down the aisle.
Only after you have thought of all of those things do you remember that a wedding is much more jolly when having it shared with the people you love (and the people that love you)
This was a difficult topic for my fiancé and I because he comes from a big family and I don't. So my friends and family are about the size of his side of the family without the large number of the kids.
The people you invite to your wedding should be the people you have spend some time with, don't think of inviting your neighbor because of the one night that you had wine together or your hairstylist because they've done your hair for the passed 5 years.
The people that come and spend the day with you should be the people you know you could call and they'll be there!
I's also important to remember that no one likes a fight and someone ruining their wedding- especially not the bride. So think twice before inviting someone whom you know will only cause trouble. Many weddings no a days contain alcohol and sometimes a drink can start a riot.
Remember to forget the friend who turns into a man hunter after two drinks. We don't want marriages ending because of a weeding reception and if you feel like you still want to send them an invitation, don't think twice about giving her the wrong address. She'll forgive you in a few years time when it comes to preparing for their own wedding.
It's easier to invite everyone at work but think about the budget. How many people can you afford to feed? You can barley afford to feed yourself sometimes, let alone 600 people!
Keep your list short, we have.
We have decide to only invite people that we have SEEN in the last 6 months!
It's an important day, why spend it with someone who can rarely make the time to see you? It often is not their schedule that is packed, their priorities are not in check, so don't feel bad about not inviting them either. They'll not think twice about skipping you on their wedding day either.
My fiancé said to me when looking a people to invite, that is does not matter who comes, as long as he gets to see me and marry me. Don't make this day about other people, its about the couple.
And yes, we are still adding people to list… There's still time…
A wedding is a special day, the only thing you take with you is the memories and in some cases the photos.
Don't skip on what matters most.
OHANA- that's what does..
