Hello guys!

Yeeeeey I'm back again with my Splinterlands post. This is my second post to participate in the Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge with the theme Fire and Regret. Unlike my previous post, this time I will share the battle strategy that I applied by using Martyr monsters on rulesets according to the challenge theme.

Martyr is a new ability possessed by the Souldbond reward card, where When Monster with Martyr dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats. This is what lately makes the battle strategy in this game even more interesting.

Well, I'm neither a proplayer nor a tournament hero. I just enjoys sharing strategy and battles that I find interesting in my own view. I played on modern battles on Gold leagues using my Bulldogs scholarship account with IGN nightmareinbone, and maybe the battle strategies I'd share weren't suitable to apply in other leagues because the differences in ability that open up are different from each league.

Ok guys, without further ado, let's get straight to the heart of this post!

BATTLE PREPARATION

Challenge Rules

Description:
All units receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with ranged attacks receive damage back.

Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
Ranged attack units with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
The Amplify ability increases damage.

Line Up and Strategy

MonsterPositionAbilitiesStrategy
photo_2023-06-12_10-13-40 (2).jpgObsidianSummoner+1 MagicObsidian will increase magic attack damage, and this is very effective for Fire and Regret rulesets that should indeed maximize attacks with magic and melee.
photo_2023-06-12_10-13-40 (3).jpgPelacor MarcenaryFirstFlying, HealPelacor Mercenary is a tank that is perfect for Odd Ones Out rulesets, because it has 7 mana with large HP and also has Armor, has high speed and Flying abilities that can increase the chance of avoiding enemy attacks, has a Heal ability that can restore its own HP so it is quite difficult to die, and has 3 good Melee damage as an attacker.
photo_2023-06-12_10-13-40 (4).jpgFungus FlingerSecondMartyr, BlindAlthough Fungus Flinger is a range monster and on this rulesets if it carries out attacks such as suicide, but because this monster has the Martyr ability, it is expected that this monster will die as soon as possible so that the stat of the adjacent monster gets +1 all stat. If this monster is still not dead, this monster is also quite useful because it has the ability balind, so all enemy melee and range attacks have an increase chance to missing their target.
photo_2023-06-12_10-13-39.jpgUraeusThirdSneak, PoisonUraeus is one of the favorite Sneak monsters because at the level up posion this monster is also active. Moreover, with mana that is small but has Armor. The speed owned is also quite large. Although not in the Odd Ones Out rulesets, I will also often use these monsters in my formations.
photo_2023-06-12_10-13-39 (2).jpgRegal PerytonFourthFlyingRegal Peryton is a magic monster that has strange mana that when combined with Obsidian, the damage suffered by children increases, so this is very fitting in this formation. Very high speed and flying ability are special features of Regal Peryton.
photo_2023-06-12_10-13-38.jpgVenari SeedsmithFifthScavenger, PoisonActually, this is just a complementary monster in this formation, since I don't have any other odd monsters that have better stats than this monster. Perhaps this will be the monster that dies the fastest because of the Fire and Regret ruleset. But with its Poison ablity, there is a possibility that poison will actively infect the target before this monster dies from Return Fire if the attack hits the target.
photo_2023-06-12_10-13-38 (2).jpgMycelic SlipspawnLastTaunt, ForcefieldMycelic Slipspawn is a favorite back tank because it has a Taunt but has magic damage, so it can be flexible anywhere and can double as a Tank and attcaker because it has great magic damage. This monster also has a Forcefield, so this monster takes only 1 damage from attacks with power 5+.

The opponent uses the summoner Grandmaster Rathe who has +1 Armor, Void Armor, and Amplify abilities. Amplify will inclease Magic reflect, Return Fire and Thorn damage to all enenmy monster by 1. Obviously this would be very different if I used Range monsters because the Fire and Regret rulesets give the Return Fire ability to all monsters, as well as magic monsters because the opponent's tank has the Reflect magic ability.

lineup.jpg

Opponents use 4 melee monster, 1 magic monster and 1 range monster. In the first position there is a Blinding Reflector that has the ability to Reflect Magic. The second position is Disintegrator who has the abilities Demoralize (Reduces the Melee attacks of all enemy monsters), Trample, and Knockout. The third and fourth positions are Sneak monster, Stitch Leech and also Uraeus, and the fifth position is Djinn Renova who has Strengthen and Triage abilities and in the last position there is War Pegasus.

I've also included a youtube video of this battle that you can play right away.

Let's discuss the course of this battle round by round!

round1.jpg

As usual, the first round begins with buffs and debuff parties from all monsters and summoners. There are no buffs and debuff speeds from each team, so the speed of all monsters is the same as the initial speed, and because Regal Peryon has the highest speed, so this mosnter is the one who started the first attack in this battle, unfortunately in addition to attacking opponents, these monsters also get reflect magic and lose 3 HP. War Pegasus, who became the second attacker, also received a return fire after his attack hit Mycelic Slipspawn. In the middle of this first round, Mycelic Slipspawn died from reflec magic. However, the Blinding Reflector also died from being hit by the Venari Seedsmith's attack. The first round ended with Fungus Flinger's attack which then got Return Fire so that it lost 2 HP.

round2.jpg

The second round begins with Regal Peryton's attack, this time safe because there are no more opposing monsters that have reflect magic. Followed by the War Pegasus attack, which again gets Return Fire. Venari Seedsmith died before the second round ended due to Return Fire, but before dying her Poison managed to hit the Disintegrator. There were 2 miss attacks in this round, namely Stitch Leech who failed to hit Regal Peryton and Disintegrator who also failed to hit Pelacor Mercenary. The second round ended with Fungus Flenger who later died from getting a Return Fire. The active Martyr ability makes all stats of Pelacor Mercenary and Uraeus increase +1.

round3.jpg

The third round begins with the Disintegrator dying from poison, so the melee attack damage from Pelacor Mercenary and Uraeus returns to normal. My three mon monsters got the opportunity to attack first in order, and then continued with the turn of all the opposing monsters. One attack missed, that was Stitch Leech's attack on Regal Peryton. Apart from the Disintegrator, no other monsters died in this round.

round4.jpg

Stitch Leech dies at the beginning of round fourth, due to an attack from Regal Peryton. Finally, the Poison from my Uraeus infects War Pegasus. I don't know why the RNG from my uraeus is so bad, it requires 4x new attacks the poison comes out even though the opponent's Uraeus only needs to attack the poison directly. Lankut, the opponent's Uraues attack also missed hitting Pelacor Mercenary, and this round ended after it was Djinn Renova's turn to attack it was over.

round5.jpg

The fifth round began, the opponent Uraes finally died after being attacked by Regal Peryton and Pelacor Mercenary. My Uraeus misses the War Pegasus, and the fifth round ends with Pelacor Mercenary dying from Djinn Renova's attack. There are 2 monsters left in each team.

round6.jpg

The sixth round begins with Regal's periton attack, and continues with Uraeus' attack on Djinn Renova. Poison Uraeus infects Djinn Renova. War Pegasus died after attacking Uraeus and being hit by Return Fire. This round ended after it was Djinn Renova's turn to attack.

round7.jpg

photo_2023-06-12_10-13-36 (2).jpg

This battle ended in the Round because Djinn Renova was poisoned, and then came under attack from Regal Peryton. I won with 2 monsters left. You can see the final result of this battle in the picture below.

STRATEGY DISCUSSION

Even though I only narrowly won, in fact, my strategy worked well. Using the Martyr monster to increase the stats of monsters on his right and left did give unexpected results. You could say that the Martyr monster is indeed used to kill himself with Fire and regret rulesets so that his Martyr is immediately active.

As I said in my previous post, there are several strategies that can be used in Fire and Regret rulesets.

  1. Avoid using Range monsters.
It is better to maximize attacks with Melee and Magic, because if you use Range monsters, the attack that hits the target will also return to the attacker.

  2. Using Amplify Monster.
This aims to increase the damage of attacks that turn towards the attacker.

  3. If forced to use Range monsters, make sure there are other support monsters that have the ability to defend such as monsters with Protect abilities, Triage abilities, and Repair abilities.
