'Realize deeply is that the present moment is all you have.' - Eckhart Tolle
How long a period of time is the present moment? Is it right now, this very minute or is it the duration of a day? Or is it the length of a meeting, a walk in nature or a family celebration get together, etc. Could a week, a month or even a year be the present? Or to take this further, is the present considered the duration of our current life on earth? There are a lot of ifs and unknowns in this world?
Psychologists, philosophers, soothsayers, spiritualists and many more learned individuals like Eckhart Tolle wisely say to live in the now as the past is the past and the future is yet to come. So therefore it does not make sense to berate oneself on an exam that is past as it is over, gone. Nor does it help reproaching oneself at not spending more time with a family member who unexpectedly passes over.
Worrying over what is to come whether it is tomorrow, next week or even next year is unfortunately a common human trait a lot of us are guilty of. It come with the territory of caring.
Do any of us get through life without regrets and worries?
I am guessing not but I can be wrong. It is a personal question only each individual can answer.
I morphed into Queen of Worry Warts for a lot of years when it came to my children until I realised that as adults they each had to walk their own life journeys. They were in control and my worry would not change anything. So over the years and now in my silver years during retirement I can honestly say I am easing back on worrying and living more in the present moment.
One of my present carefree moments one day this week was a fun lunch date with my hubby at a cafe in Noosa Junction about 30 minutes up the coast road. I had not a care in the world. My only goal after eating my lunch was some of my hubby's chips he always so chivalrously shares with me.
Little did I know at lunch that my fridge was going to stop working in two days time and I would be knee deep in rearranging frozen and refrigerated food. Life has its ups and downs. It presents in different ways, fun enjoyable one short moment taking a few hours and then extra crazy busy moment that took three days.
My life continues to be one big learning experience no matter how old I get, but perhaps I am right thinking that the present moment does vary in length of time. Just think, holidays can take a week, two weeks or months, a present moment of fun and relaxation.
But, I have to say I am very thankful for the new fridge in my kitchen and even more thankful I no longer have to keep buying ice.

Hey @shasta, thank you for your wonderful water tree reflection photo in your recent post. The carefree skipping stones across the water ran through my mind as I was in the midst of moving out wet bottles, soft cheese, and melting ice cubes from the broken down fridge gave me a nice lift. The mind is a creative resource we can all trap into regardless of life's tricky challenges. Regards and best wishes.
